Review: The Crescent Stone by Matt Mikalatos
The cover is gorgeous, which is the reason I picked this book to read and review. I absolutely LOVED it. I loved the humor. It got me within the first few pages with the map. Once I met the characters, you wouldn't have a hard time figuring out who the person was who "wrote" on the map.
This story is about a girl who has a terminal lung disease and a boy who has had a traumatic event happen to him recently. They are both lab partners at their high school. One day, Madeline is at school and she is looked terrible according to Jason. She ends up blacking out and Jason rushing her to the hospital. Time ends up freezing and a mysterious man named Hannali offering Madeline a deal. He will allow her to breathe freely and normally again in exchange for a year of servitude and a place called The Sunlit Lands.
Jason refuses to let her go by herself, so he makes a deal for pudding cups.. chocolate to be exact and not the fake stuff.. (this cracked me up and had me rolling.. so I had to include it.) He makes the deal but he says he will be in servitude to Madeline and not the people who Madeline are in a deal with. This means that he has to obey what she asks of him while in the Sunlit Lands.
This is an epic fantasy about magic, greed, justice and injustice. We learn that when they hone their special skills and it is being taken from someone else, or if you are breathing fine... is that pure magic, or is it making someone else suffer for something they or their family desperately need.
Thanks to Tyndale House Publishing for providing me a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Happy Birthday Addy
My baby is 6 years old today. I just can't believe that my baby is growing up so fast. She has learned so much this past year. It's even more shocking to think that she will be graduating Kindergarten in May... I am crying at the thought.

Cayce's 27th Birthday/ Memorial Day Recap
This post is hella late, but better late than never. Cayce's birthday was last Monday and it was also Memorial Day. My honey is 27. He's getting closer to 50 and he is starting to hate this joke. We just had a quiet day at home. He got the day off work since it was a national holiday, so he got paid for chilling and sleeping.
When we woke up, I gave him his bag of gifts. It was a bunch of things I got from Hollar.com and some freebies he can use.
He wanted another simple cake this year, so I made him a vanilla cake with whipped cream cheese frosting with silver crystals on top.
It was a good day. We knew we didn't want to go out because everywhere would be closed and all the public places and lakes and the river would be jammed packed. We got a lot of stuff done around the house and Cayce also started planning a new entertainment center for our living room. As of today when I am posting this (June 10) it is pretty much built and just needs to be painted.

this cake was delicious
our little Memorial day/ Birthday meal was small and light. I made Cayce's favorite Green Bean casserole and mashed potatoes and gravy with an applewood smoked Tenderloin. This was Cayce's plate and he was already munching on his tenderloin.

Cayce's 26th Birthday
On Sunday, my hubby turned 26. We now have a standing joke between us that we are now closer to 50. Last year on his birthday, I joked saying that he was halfway to 50, and we have laughed about it ever since. I love this man to pieces. Staring back in April, I started collecting and buying his presents. Some of his presents were featured in previous freebie hauls, I just don't remember which ones. And the rest of his presents were bought.
I was out of patience to wait for midnight to give him his gifts, so I gave them to him 3 hours early. HE LOVED EVERYTHING and he showed his love the next morning... TMI!!! The hat, body wash, body spray were free. The other free items that I had for him are gone. Have no idea where they went. He knows about them, and said that if we find them, just give them to him on Father's day.
The items I bought were the Effie Trinket pop, the purple AUX cord came with two other cords that are being used, and I got him a new battery for his drill which is not being sold anymore and that was only 1 of 2 that they had left on Amazon. So I am hoping that I will be able to buy the 2nd one soon and give that one on Father's day or keep it till Christmas.. idk.
After our fantastic morning, he took the kids to Target and I was home alone to clean up and bake his cake that the kids picked out for him and cook breakfast. I only made grits with grape jelly (YUM) and he made him some jalapeno eggs. Yes, he cooked his own birthday breakfast.
The girls picked out the frosting and Cayce picked out the type of cake he wanted. He chose a white cake and the girls got him purple frosting with pink sprinkles. The pink sprinkles were supposed to go on Samantha's cake last month, but Cayce switched the toppings. And then we didn't have a 6 candle to go with our 2 candle. I am just going to go buy every number candle in a style I like and toss the ones I have and call it done. I couldn't even find my question mark candle that I love.
Cayce didn't care what it looked like. As I am writing this, this cake is gone. It was that delicious with some milk!!!
The rest of the day, we just played Fall Out 4, took a nap while the kids were in their room playing a video game and napping themselves, and then we had beef and pepper kabobs on the grill and baked potatoes for supper. And we ended the night by watching Divergent.
I could tell that he really enjoyed his birthday this year and he didn't have to work and he didn't get any calls to come into work, except one text but that was taken care of. Birthday 2016 was a SUCCESS!!!!!

Cayce trying to eat Addy's food and her trying to eat it before he gets it.

he is a proud 26 year old who is really 3 years old....lmao.
This is why it went so quickly because he sliced the cake into portions to grab and go, now it crumbs and gone.

Samantha's Birthday
Samantha had a great birthday. She went with Cayce and Addy to Addy's speech appointment and they stopped by McDonald's and Target on the way home. Ariana and I got her presents laid out on the table and made her a breakfast. I made sprinkle pancakes, polish sausage and scrambled eggs.
We had to wait till they got home to eat. After we ate, Samantha dug into her presents. It was a Lego themed present giving birthday. Everything was Legos, except the fishing kit that my dad got her. It was Disney princess by Shakespeare.
She picked out some of the boxes of Legos herself and had to wait, but some were surprises.
Cayce and I were exhausted after we sorted all of her Legos together, so we took a mini nap before my mom came over. She brought another box of Legos over and she brought my dad's present over too. I didn't take pictures because Sammy tore into the box before I remembered to take a pic and I was busy looking at the fishing kit.
After my dad came and gone, we started playing with water balloons, that actually turned into a water fight...lol.
After they played with the water for about 30 minutes and got super super cold to the point of shaking so bad and teeth chattering, they came in and changed into pajamas and watched me frost Samantha's cake.
Her cake was supposed to have pink sprinkles but she wanted the purple sprinkles off Cayce's purple icing, so her and Cayce made an agreement on that. I think it was dumb, but whatever. Cayce wants pink sprinkles on his purple cake next month for his birthday.
the first pancake!

I am in love with this bag. Cayce got this bag for Sammy and I because he saw me watching a planner diy video that used this bag to make a cover for a happy planner.
We also had to get more storage containers for her.
