Kindergarten Prep. Work: Week 1

Last Monday, the day after Samantha's 5th birthday, we started Easy Peasy Homeschool. I started on the McGuffy Primer since Sammy already knows her letters. She did great all week and now knows some words by recognition. All of the work is on the computer, and I'm going to record everything she does, and write down the words that she has been working on.

I haven't got her working in her preschool workbook yet, because I'm not sure how to go about it yet. Cayce and I have officially picked a date to start homeschooling Samantha. It will be August 11th. It's a week before the little kids go back in our district. So a head start will give us plenty of time and we will be ending hopefully around the same time they do if not earlier or later.

Right now, I am just going to post the pictures together instead of the days, but I will get back to organizing them by the days. Work with me people!!

Prep. Curriculum: Week 24

The theme this week was dogs. We did 4 days this week. It was a very easy week for her.

Monday:
I gave Samantha a bulldog printout to color when she did this lesson, so I decided to give Ariana a pitbull printout.

Tuesday: The color this week was tan. VERY EASY since basically our walls in the house is tan. I hate the color tan and brown with a PASSION.

Wednesday:

She knew the letter x, because of Jake and the Never Land pirates.

Thursday: I gave her the day off. She ended up singing the whole day

Friday:

She had a fun time and we also did her counting book and I hate that I didn't get a picture.

Easter/ Birthday Recap

Samantha woke up early on her birthday and that means that Cayce and I had to get up early too. Right when she walked into our room, she screamed, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY. Then she saw her brand new microphone behind our door. She immediately grabbed it and Cayce showed her how to turn it on, and Cayce grabbed his phone and took two videos of her singing. She sung her ABC's and twinkle twinkle little star.

After we got up and dressed, I started getting food prepped for our Easter dinner. We were supposed to go to my parent's house, but we decided to have dinner here instead. Cayce took Ariana and Samantha to the store where he works, and Samantha got some free birthday candy, and all of Cayce's co-workers told her happy birthday, which made her excited.

We played with the new microphone while I was cooking and then my mom and dad came over. My mom got Samantha this angel necklace that has a diamond on it, which is her birthstone. We ate dinner and me and my mom listened to music while she decorated the cake. The cake sucked because it ended up falling apart, but it was delicious.

Bud came over while we were eating and he went with Cayce and Samantha to pick out a birthday gift. She got a Doc McStuffin's radio, Sofia the first doll, and Clover the bunny. It was a great day. We didn't do any easter egg hunt because it rained the day before and it was disgusting outside.

I will post the other pics and try to get the videos posted on Friday!

Happy Easter & Happy Birthday Samantha

It's an early morning in the Barden household. It's Easter Sunday and it's also Samantha's 5th birthday. It is still hard to believe that she is 5 years old. 5 years ago, I was a senior in high school.

Prep. Curriculum: Week 23

The theme this week was snow. It was fairly easy since she got to play in the snow earlier this year and we lived through a 3 day power outage. We only did 4 days of school.

Monday:
One of the books we read was Clifford's 1st snow day. Growing up, I loved reading and hearing about Clifford the big red dog. But for some reason, my kids are into it. I don't know why but I want them to love the same books I did growing up.

Tuesday:
The shape this week was a hexagon and Ariana knew exactly what it looked like when we were driving because every time we came to a stop sign, she would say hex-gone. It was hilarious.

Wednesday:
I gave Airy the day off so I could get some house work done and to work more on getting Samantha's school work organized.

Thursday:
She had a double lesson. She did Wednesday and Thursday work and at the end of getting everything done, she went "wooo, that's a lot of work mama" and wiped her arm across her forehead pretending to wipe away sweat. She is so silly.

Friday:
We had an early morning and was ready for the busy weekend to begin. She had a couple of workbook pages to do and that's about it.

Busy Week

This has been a hectic and busy week. I have been trying to get all of Samantha's Kindergarten prep work ready in time for her to start on Monday and I'm also trying to get my house clean for Easter/ Samantha's 5th birthday.

I finally got all Samantha's sight words laminated and organized. I got her spelling games ready. I am patiently waiting for our public library to announce summer reading and all that. I signed the girls up for a Lowe's workshop next month.

I started reading another book. It's called Fearless and I got through half of it before I made myself put it down or I would have gone through another book in one day. I'm hoping to read more on Saturday because Cayce has to work from open to close at the store to be able to have Sunday off.

I have cut down tremendously on TV watching. I only watch my new shoes at night when they air. I have been reading lots of fan fiction and being on tumblr a lot. I have my Spotify open from the time I wake up till I go to sleep. I have been hitting the sheets around 1-2 AM and it's like I'm a teenage again because I used to stay up till like 4 or 5 AM and then sleep till 3 or 4 PM. That was what I was comfortable with and my parents never said anything. Cayce on the other hand, has a problem with it. It's who I've always been and I'm not going to change.

But now I go to sleep between 1 and 2 in the morning, and I wake up between 9 and 10. My kids get taken care of and they are fine with that. I think better at night and I just don't like my preferences being questioned or judged. As long as my kids are taken care of and happy, I'm happy.

Tricia's Wedding Reception

The reception followed right after and it was amazing. I think it should have been a bigger space, but there were two levels and we immediately went to the top level because everyone was on the bottom. 10 minutes after we sit the kids down at the table, Tricia and Bryan came out of their little room.
The food was amazing, and it was open bar so Cayce got a beer, and I took a long swig, then chased it with some good tasting tea.

While the girls were eating, Tricia and Bryan were introduced to everyone. They danced and it was heartfelt.

After they did their dances, they cut the cake. It was a two tier Clemson Tiger cake that my aunt Karen made and she is the best when it comes to making cakes. We ended up leaving during that time because Adalyn was a ticking time bomb and she was a second away from losing it. It was a nice little drive back home and it was a great day. Officially got a new member to my family, and Cayce got to spend a lot of time with his girls.
