July Favorite Recipe: 7 Spice Teriyaki Chicken

Last month, we tried a McCormick Grill Mates for the first time and we loved these marinade packets. We had this over rice of course, and it was like eating a stir fry. 

I took two chicken breasts and cut them into bite sized pieces and I also cut up a whole medium sized onion. I put it all in my white bowl and poured the marinade over the chicken and onion and mixed well. My mouth was watering because it was smelling so good. I placed tin foil over and stuck it in the refrigerator for a couple hours. 

On the package it says a 30 minute marinade, but I kept it in there longer and I feel that it was more delicious that way.

After I took it out the fridge, I took a slotted spoon and scooped out the chicken and onions because I didn't want to put the excess marinade in the pan. This looks so delicious right now... #YUM

While the chicken and onions were starting to cook, I had to get the rice started. We love rice!

And here is the finished product. We also had green beans that I put on the side and the girls mixed it in with theirs and said it was even better. My kids might be food critics one day, they love any food I put in front of them.

This month we start back to school, so I may have a casserole or a slow cooker meal for ya'll next month.

Paparoni's Pizzeria & Grill Review

It's time for another restaurant review. This time it's a small little place inside a grocery store. I have heard mixed feeling about this place. Some said it was amazing and the rest were that the pizzas were too greasy.

Cayce stopped by the same day he went to Hansen's Triple Play cafe and got my dinner. He got his dinner from here and he got the Philly cheese steak pizza. He saved me a slice for later that night and OMG, it was damn delicious, and it was fucking pricey!!!

Cayce got a MEDIUM pizza and it came with steak, onions, bell peppers and mushrooms and it was $11.99. Are you freaking out of your mind. Your a pizzeria, not a fancy luxurious restaurant. Again, the only time I will be going back is if it a special occasion, like a birthday.

Hansen's Triple Play Cafe Review

This is 1 of 2 restaurant reviews that I will be posting this month. This is a little restaurant that is in a neighboring town and I was happy to try it out.

 A couple of weeks before we decided to buy from there, we picked up a menu and everything is high priced to what I normally pay at other restaurants.

It took me a while to chose what I wanted, and I ended up choosing the 8oz Whiskey burger. It costed $8.50 and it came with cheese and grilled onions. It was worth the price. It doesn't come with fries, so you have to order that separately and I got the small for a $1.99. The amount of fries for that price was not worth it, but they were delicious anyways.

It was DELICIOUS and the fries were perfect but too pricey. I will be going back to the place but only as a special occasion type, like a birthday or celebratory day.

Sub Station 2 Review

Growing up, Sub Station 2 was the shit. It was one of the main restaurants in my hometown along with the old timey Hilltop Cafe. A few years ago, my town's sub station 2 closed because it was losing money thanks to the losers that were giving away free food to their friends. I was devastated because I would always get turkey clubs and they ALWAYS made the best cold cuts with a lot of oil and vinegar and salt and pepper. The local Subway has been a suitable disappointment. But, I was told that the next town over, there is a Sub Station 2 where another one of my favorite restaurants used to be. I sent Cayce to get me a turkey club only to find out that they don't make turkey clubs..... WHAT??????????

I got my hopes up, but the kind employees made me a sandwich with all of the fixings that go on a turkey club, not the same, but fucking DELICIOUS! I went back two days later to do this post because I wanted to review them.

The slogan is very misleading... you would think more means specialty and specialty is turkey clubs since it isn't on the menu, but whatever. I love the sandwiches. They are delicious, BUT, the prices are absolutely crazy. The first sandwich I got was a 6 inch and I paid close to 7 dollars. It had bacon on it and they charged me a 1.69 for two slices....WTF! The second time, I got a footlong. I got the same fixings on it. It was over 12 dollars. They didn't charge me for bacon this time.

So this half of my sandwich was 6 dollars. 

I am going to be going to another sub station a little farther away to see if they make turkey clubs, and if they don't, then I will be coming here for a splurge dinner. 12 dollars for just a sandwich is ridiculous! #deliciouslyexpensive

Pedro's Mexican Restaurant Review

Here is another restaurant review. This one is going to be all about a popular restaurant in my hometown. It has been here for a good while now and it is a hit. The building used to be a video store when I was growing up and then it was an abandoned building for a while and then it became a Thai place that did not last long what so ever. Then it was turned into Pedro's and been there ever since. I think it opened when I was a sophomore in high school.

we got the Special Fajitas for Two.

I have never gone there to eat, but I have had take-out from there. It is always packed, from open to close and it is easier to just grab and go. Maybe one day, Cayce and I will have a sit down meal there. The meal we got is the same thing we get from San Jose's Mexican Bar and Grill. I love this meal and it was delicious. The beef was a little chewy and Cayce stupidly asked for no chicken, but the best part was the shrimp.

YUMMY

The shrimp was the best. I have eaten shrimp my whole life and I can tell what is fresh and what has been frozen or imported. My mom raised me as a shrimp lover, so I can call myself a shrimp connoisseur.

But without the chicken in this dish, it was really over powered by the beef and peppers, and they jipped me on the amazing shrimp.

There is my second restaurant review. I will have another up hopefully by the end of the month. We are going to be doing some travelling during Spring Break.... fingers crossed!

China Hut 3 Review

Here is another new series that I am going to be starting. I love reading reviews on restaurants that are small and never on the map. I want to do that with some of my favorite restaurants. The first one is going to be a Chinese restaurant. I have been eating from this place since I was a baby. My dad loved it and it is absolutely delicious. The food is so authentic.

This is the entrance. It is tucked into a little parking lot of a small strip mall that holds a Mexican restaurant, Mexican bar and Mexican liquor store.

This Buddha meets you right when you walk into the door. We always rub his belly for good luck.

Now, I always order shrimp fried rice and 7 cut wings. The wings used to be larger than they are now and so juicy, but now they are tiny and not juicy. The rice is more oily than it used to be, but they cook it to perfection.

The shrimp fried rice will always be my favorite, but I might be cutting out the wings. I just love this place and hope that the same family that has been there since I was a child, will still be owning and running it.
