School Week 38 Photo Diary

The last week of school and the last of these posts for the time being. I went on a picture taking roll and took way to many. I think I was trying to make up for all the days I didn't take pictures of. This week was very productive. We got a lot done.

Monday 5/7: We started at 10am. I had Sammy start her day off with writing about her beach trip with my mom and dad. They took her to Beaufort for her birthday trip. While she was writing that, I had Addy work on more workbook pages. Ariana started her day off with reading. We read more of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Once we got done with our two chapters, we watched an hour of a Thomas Jefferson documentary on YouTube.

Samantha ended her day with reading. Addy did Easy Peasy lessons and also reading time with Samantha. Ariana did some pages in her workbook.

Tuesday: NO Pictures. Sammy started her day with reading time. Addy did workbook pages and Ariana did reading time with Sammy. Next, Sammy did some pages in her Big third grade workbook. Ariana started some new lessons on Reading Eggs in worksheet form. Getting them ready for summer. We finished Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and the kids loved every minute spent of reading that book. We ended the day with watching another hour of the Thomas Jefferson documentary.

Wednesday: No Pictures. Earliest start of the week. Mainly because I woke up early to watch the new episode of The Handmaid's Tale. I am OBSESSED with that show. It affected me so much that I had to choose a new show on Netflix for them to watch while I got my shit together and stopped crying long enough. They ended up watching A Night On Earth. We then started reading a new book. The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris. When I got done with reading two chapters, they went and did reading time together and Ariana read out loud to Sammy and Addy and it was so cute. Sammy finished her day with phonics worksheets. Addy worked in her workbook and Ariana worked in her scholastic 2nd grade workbook.

Thursday: We had a late start to the day. Morning work. Ariana started her day with Easy Peasy lessons. She did two days worth of lessons. Addy watched Leapfrog videos one more time this year. Sammy did phonics worksheets and then she did her Easy Peasy lessons, while Ariana started more Reading Eggs worksheets. When Addy got done with her videos, I had Ariana do reading time together while Addy did her Easy peasy lessosn. Sammy did Reading Eggs worksheets to catch up with Ariana.

We ended the day with reading three chapters of The Magic Misfits. I love that Neil Patrick Harris took inspiration from The Carnivorous Carnival and that it was also blurbed by Lemony Snicket!!

Friday: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!! We had a late start to the last day. Not what I wanted, but couldn't help it. We did morning work and our annual picture taking. My girls are getting so big. #sadface! We spent a good portion of the day watching the new season of Bill Nye Saves the World. We love Bill Nye.

After we got done watching Bill Nye, Ariana wanted to read out loud and it gave me the perfect opportunity to get this beautiful picture and a video of Ariana reading so well.
Ariana finished her year with Reading Eggs worksheets. Addy finished with doing workbook pages and Sammy did Reading Eggs worksheets as well.

I am glad that the year is done, but it seemed to fly by. I officially have a 4th grader, 3rd grader and 1st grader.

We are going to be doing a summer school of sorts. We are going to be reading, doing Reading Eggs worksheets. Math and a lot of science lessons.

School Week 37 Photo Diary

I am almost done. The second to the last one. I enjoy looking back on these posts and I am happy that I do continue them and get them all up, but they are tedious and they get boring. I will be trying a different format with my pictures next year.

Monday 4/30: Started our day at 10:30. Addy did more workbook pages. She is flying through that damn thing, so one thing I know I ave to do this summer with her is review, review, review. Ariana and Sammy did reading time. While I was still sleeping this morning, they were in Sammy's room reading to each other, so I decided to keep them going on that. When that hour was up, we watched another Netflix documentary. Once we got done watching and learning a little about the Polar Sea, I had Addy work on Easy Peasy lessons.

I had Ariana and Samantha summarize what they watched. Then we ended the day with reading the first two chapters of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Tuesday: No Pictures. Morning work and Netflix are our normal.. don't be surprised. After we got through with our Netflix watching, Sammy and Ariana did another summary for me and Addy worked on more workbook pages. Then she went and watched a couple episodes of Little Einsteins while it was still available. While she was watching that, Sammy and Ariana wanted to sit and read their books, so they had reading time. We finished the day with reading more Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Wednesday: We had a late start to the day. We watched two more episodes of The Polar Sea on Netflix. After, I had Addy watch Super Why. She loves singing along with that show and yelling out her name and the names of animals or letters. Ariana did reading time while Sammy did phonics worksheets.

Addy finished her day with more workbook pages. Ariana worked on Reading Eggs Mathseeds lessons. Sammy finished her day with reading to herself.

Thursday: No Pictures. Morning work, Netflix and summarizing for Samantha and Ariana. And more workbook pages for Addy. Sammy worked on Easy Peasy lessons after she got done writing. Ariana did reading time. Addy had her own quiet time today because she wanted to read too. We ended the day with reading two more chapters of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Friday: Sammy went on her birthday trip with my parents, so she had the day off from school. Ariana and Adalyn had a school day. No pictures were taken though. Ariana was in charge of getting me up this morning, well we both slept in a little. She loves her sleep. They finished The Polar Sea after their morning work. I had Ariana summarize what she watched and Addy did 2 days worth of easy Peasy lessons. Then she did workbook pages while Ariana wanted to read the rest of the book she had been reading all week. She then finished her day with Reading Eggs math seeds lessons. Addy finished her day with looking at her own books, and paying attention to what Ariana was working on.

School Week 36 Photo Diary

This week had to be one of our busiest weeks. We also had a day off on Thursday because they were supposed to have a dentist appointment, but Cayce forgot to let his work know, so we had to reschedule. As I am writing this, they have had their appointment and Ariana has to have some major dental work done. She has to have some baby teeth removed because her permanent teeth are not coming in or they are coming in behind her baby teeth. Her mouth is so tiny and the dentists always have a hard time and I don't think they have been able to get an x-ray of her teeth yet. Anyways, back to this school week.

Monday 4/23: We had a 10AM start time. A little later than I wanted, but it was a good long and productive day. After their morning work, I had Addy work in her workbook. Ariana did Easy Peasy lessons. Samantha worked on phonics worksheets. Addy also watched some YouTube videos and then she watched a new show on Netflix called Ask the Storybots. While she was watching that, I had Ariana and Sammy do reading time together.

Ariana worked on Reading Eggs today. We read more of The Wizard of Oz and ended the day with a YouTube video on Thomas Jefferson.

Tuesday: We had the latest start of the week today. We were barely awake by the time we started doing our morning work after breakfast, so we watched Wild Arabia on Netflix. Gave me a lot of Aladdin vibes. After, Addy did some more workbook pages. Ariana read to herself and to me and Sammy worked on phonics worksheets. Ariana also worked on more Reading Eggs Mathseeds lessons while Sammy and Addy did reading time together and Sammy read out loud to Addy.

We finished the day with reading chapter 15 and 16 of The Wizard of Oz.

Wednesday: No Pictures. We had another early morning start. Morning work, Netflix and finished read The Wizard of Oz. That book is way different than the movie. After I got through reading the book out loud and we discussed what were our favorite and less favorite parts and what was different between the book and movie. Then we played Candy Land because Addy had been on a Candy and kick the whole weekend. We ended the day with watching a documentary on YouTube about Thomas Jefferson's life.

Thursday: No School

Friday: No Pictures. We started the day around 10:30. I was ready to get the day started because I hated giving them a day off. I considered Thursday a wasted day, but oh well. We watched another Netflix show called Wild France. It wasn't as good as Wild Arabia. Sammy worked on phonics worksheets. Ariana did reading time. Adalyn did workbook pages. We ended the day with watching another hour of the Thomas Jefferson documentary.

Saturday: No Pictures. Today was the make up day for Thursday. I have to get in my 180 days, so I will makeup a day on the weekend to keep my school end date the same. When I count my 180 days out every year, what ever day is 180.. I will stick to that day and not change it for nothing. If something happens and we have to make up days, I will do every weekend and do holidays if I have to. To keep it short and sweet and fun, we finished Wild France. We finished the Thomas Jefferson documentary and discussed it. Then we finished the day with more Candy Land.

School Week 35 Photo Diary

I have been thinking about these posts non stop and it is making me want to get them done and posted. it also helps to keep the girls school planners open on my desk and taking up space.. lol. I want my desk space back!! This was a 4 day week for us because Samantha's birthday was on Friday.

Monday 4/16: Started before 9am. We were ready to get this school week done because we were all ready for Friday. I was just ready to get all those present out of my closet, so I could walk back into my closet. I am not thrilled that she is already 9, but can't help that. Anyways, they had their morning work and chores. Addy worked on more pages in her workbook after. Ariana worked on some worksheets that were in her white binder and Sammy worked on phonics worksheets.

When they worked on worksheets for a good hour and a half, I had Addy go watch Little Einsteins. Ariana had been doing reading time because she finished all of her worksheets, so she ended up doing Reading Eggs Mathseeds. Sammy did her reading time and then she also worked on Reading Eggs.

Tuesday: No Pictures. We started the day close to 10:00 and we had a discussion and research time to start the day. We were outside on the porch calling for Luna and we saw a caterpillar on our flowers. The girls wanted to know what type it was so we googled it and we realized that this caterpillar we were seeing is actually a moth. I was surprised and we also learned the name. It is an Eastern Tent Caterpillar. Once we got done reading some more fun facts about it, we started actual work. Addy worked on her pink tablet that I fixed. Ariana did Easy Peasy lessons. Sammy worked on Phonics worksheets. We ended the day with watching two more episodes of Egypt on Netflix.

Wednesday: Morning work and then more of Egypt on Netflix. After, we read 4 chapters of The Wizard of Oz. The book is so different from the movie. Addy did some more workbook pages for the rest of the day. Ariana started her Reading Eggs Eggspress lessons and loved them.

Sammy worked on Easy Peasy worksheets and she finished her day with reading time. Sammy worked on time and adjective worksheets and she did super well.

Thursday: No Pictures. I was surfing Hulu the night before and realized that they have a movie that I have been wanting to watch for years and that there was now a part two coming out, so I decided that the movies would be part of our school day, for two reasons. We all love penguins and Sammy especially loves them. They are one of her favorite animals. We watched March of the Penguins 1 and 2.

Friday: No School! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMMY!!!!

Ariana Cooks! Pt. 2 April 13, 2018

I am slowly but surely getting these posts up. This is the second one I am doing today. This meal was a favorite among the girls but I didn't like it as much as they did. The crust was a little too hard and my favorite part were the vegetables on top. The size of the pizzas weren't enough for all 5 of us, so we made a salad to go along with it, so it was a veggie night. This meal was the Veggie Pizza wit Crispy Rice Crust

Ingredients We Used:

1 cup, cooked according to package directions UNCLE BEN'S® Flavor Infusions Garlic & Butter Rice
1 egg
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

½ teaspoon dried oregano½ cup prepared pizza sauce1 ½ cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
fresh vegetables
We made two pizzas, so we had to double the recipe.

School Week 34 Photo Diary

I know this is beyond late, but we are finally done with our school year and I am going to be working on these back to back to have them up before the end of this month. I will not being doing these types of posts next year. I am going to be doing something completely different that will be personal for just our family.

Monday 4/9: No Pictures. I had Sammy start early this morning with Easy peasy, then her sisters started their  morning at 9:10AM with morning work and chores. After, I had Addy work on Easy Peasy lessons while Ariana did Reading Eggs worksheets. Sammy did some reading time and then they watched a new Netflix documentary called Saving Sirga. We finished the day with reading Peter Pan

Tuesday: We had a late start to the day. They got their morning work done and then we watched another two episodes of Saving Sirga. It's about an abandoned lion who follows the dude who saved her everywhere and he is trying to get her to adjust to the wild again. After we got done watching that, Addy worked on Easy Peasy lessons. Ariana and Sammy summarized what they watched and that was their writing time.

When Addy was done with her Easy Peasy lessons, she watched Super Why while Sammy and Ariana did reading time together. We ended the day with reading two more chapters of Peter Pan.

Wednesday: No Pictures. We started our morning at 10:10AM with morning work and chores. We watched episode 4 and 5 of Saving Sirga. Addy got her new workbook yesterday, so she did some pages and she was super happy and did so good. Ariana and Sammy worked on Reading eggs worksheets. Addy watched more Super Why after she got done with her workbook. We finished the day with a chapter of Peter Pan.

Thursday: We started the day at 10:00am. We finished watching Saving Sirga and it was so good. We read three chapters of Peter Pan. I had Sammy work on phonics worksheets after. Ariana had reading time and Addy did more pages in her workbook. Sammy finished her day with reading with Addy and Ariana finished her day with Reading Eggs worksheets.

Friday: No Pictures. We had another 10AM start. I wasn't feeling that great and was really sluggish and tired, so after they got done with their morning work and chores, I had them play several rounds of Candy Land with Addy. After they played that for a little while, we finished reading Peter Pan. The girls were asking about Egypt the night before and if we were going to do anything more with Egypt this year and I found a documentary on Netflix that we hadn't watched and it was a retelling of when King Tut's tomb was discovered. It is called Egypt. After we watched two episodes of that, Sammy and Ariana worked on Reading Eggs worksheets. Addy spent the rest of her day with me doing number flashcards. Sammy finished her day with finishing up some worksheets for Easy Peasy math.

Ariana Cooks! Pt.1 April 7, 2018

I know I am a month late with this post and the sad thing is, is that she only got to make two of the recipes that we chose for the month. Dinner plans changed and also we couldn't find what we needed at the end of the month or it was just to expensive where we were shopping. I budget when I shop and I do meticulous planning of every shopping trip. She had fun the two meals she made. This meal was called Country Style Turkey and Rice Casserole.

Ingredients We Used:
  • 1 box UNCLE BEN’S® COUNTRY INN® Chicken & Vegetable Rice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 can low-fat condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups frozen peas and carrots
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 6 cups diced cooked turkey
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 pkg stove top stuffing

School Week 33 Photo Diary

It's the end of April and I have failed with these weekly blog posts. I am thinking of not doing these posts next year, but I will continue to take pictures. I planned on having this up right when this school week was done, but it was our week back from Spring Break and I was exhausted.

Monday 4/2: We started our day at 9:15AM. Wasn't as early as I wanted but it was a decent start back. Sammy worked on Reading Eggs spelling worksheets while Ariana did Easy Peasy lessons. Addy watched the Leapfrog videos on Netflix as a sort of review after her week off.

Once Addy was done watching Leapfrog, she worked on her Easy Peasy lessons for an hour and a half. Then we started reading Peter Pan. We read the first two chapters. before i started reading it out loud, I told them that it would be very different from the Disney version.

To end our day, we watched episode 6 of John Adams on Amazon. Then we watched a Youtube video on organic gardens because we are wanting to do our own garden again this year.

Tuesday: No Pictures. We started our morning at 10AM. We spent a good 45 minutes doing our morning work and other things. We were moving kind of slow because yesterday we were busy all damn day. We watched a new documentary on Netflix about Wild Australia. On the last week of the school year, I am going to write down each continent and what animals live on that continent and they are going to chose their favorite one and during the summer, they are going to be doing their own little projects. When we got done watching Wild Australia, we read two more chapters of Peter Pan and finished the day with watching episode 7 of John Adams.

Wednesday: We had a late start to the day. We started at 11:15. We did our morning work and then we finished watching the last two episodes of Wild Australia. After, we worked some more on history, specifically about the government and the three branches and democracy. I had Addy watch Little Einsteins because she wouldn't understand the government part. When we spent a good amount of time on that, I had Sammy and Ariana do reading time. Addy finished her day with Easy Peasy. She is almost done with her 1st part of Easy Peasy.

Thursday: Morning work and then another Netflix documentary. This one was called Food: Delicious Science and if was really fascinating and I actually learned a couple things from it. After we watched two episodes of that, Addy did her leapfrog tablet while Ariana did reading time with Samantha. Addy worked on her tablet for 30 minutes before she did more Easy Peasy lessons.
When Addy was done with her Easy Peasy and the girls were done reading, we went and read another chapter of Peter Pan. Sammy and Ariana finished their day with a free write after.

Friday: We watched the last episode of the food science documentary this morning and I want more of that show. It was really good and I highly recommend it. Addy did three more Easy Peasy lessons and made a zebra. While she was doing that, Ariana and Samantha worked on Reading Eggs spelling worksheets.

We finished our day with reading chapters 6 and 7 of Peter Pan.

School Week 32 Photo Diary

I know this is a month behind, but I will be catching up soon. The week after this school week was our Spring Break, and if you want to see what we did during our break, you can go to my youtube channel. The first two days of the week I didn't take any pictures. We were sick as dogs from the pollen and our allergies were just not co-operating. One thing I hate about living in the woods, is all the damn pollen.

Monday 3/19: No Pictures. We started the day at 9:30am. They did their morning work and then we watched a tiger documentary. After, Addy worked on Easy Peasy lessons. Sammy did phonics worksheets and then ended her day with reading time. Ariana did reading time and then she ended her day with reading Eggs spelling worksheets.

Tuesday: No Pictures. This day was our worst sick day. We couldn't breath without trying to hack up a lung and our noses were running wild. I had them start the day with coloring and free write. During this time, I was trying to stop coughing and taking medicine. After they got done with coloring and writing, I had them snuggle in my bed with some books and we all read together or attempted to focus on words. Then we started reading a new book, The Little Prince. We had seen a preview for the movie on Netflix and the girls wanted to watch it and I had been wanting to read the book, so I figured it would be a good read aloud. They love it. We read chapters 1-10. We finished the day with watching a Netflix documentary on Earth's Natural Wonders. We discussed in great length afterwards about everything and the girls now have the travel bug where they want to explore the world like me.

Wednesday: Today was a late start day. I was still feeling bad, but the girls started feeling a little better. After morning work, I let them watch some YouTube videos on the seasons, continents and spring facts since it was the first day of Spring. After, I printed some spring coloring pages for Addy and Sammy did Easy Peasy while Ariana read to herself. When Addy got done coloring, she watched some Little Einsteins while Sammy read to herself and Ariana did Easy Peasy.

Thursday: Today was our latest start for the week. I was getting some much needed sleep and I actually feel better. After morning work, we watched some more of Earth's Natural Wonders and after we discussed and they drew their favorite parts from the episodes we watched.

We read more of The Little Prince. Then we finished our day with watching episode 5 of John Adams on Amazon.

Friday:We finished reading The Little Prince today and then we watched the movie on Netflix and it was the cutest thing. It doesn't follow the book I think it was beautifully made and it made me cry. i won't spoil it, but have some tissues handy. After the movie, I had Ariana and Sammy read on their own and Addy worked on Easy Peasy lessons and then she ended her day with number flashcards.

This was a busy and hectic week and we were definitely looking for Spring Break.
