DIY Chalkboard Wall

Cayce has been wanting to make the girls a chalkboard wall since the beginning of this year, and we finally had the time to do it. I was hesitant at first at the idea. He wanted to use the wall between Adalyn's room and their bathroom and make it floor to ceiling. We ended up agreeing and getting the paint and supplies one night while we were out shopping.

The girls helped him during the school day and I have mentioned that in last week's recap. They helped lay the painter's tape, measure the wood for the top and bottom and of course paint.

Originally, Cayce was going to put the board in the middle, so I could have the top half and the girls could have the bottom half, but ended up making it one big section.

 He painted the wall into the two sections, but then removed the board as a last minute decision.

The painting begins. The paint we used was Devine Color Chalkboard from Target. We got the pan and other tools from Target.

Cayce made his first mistake at not covering the ceiling and got a big swatch on the ceiling. 

we let the top dry for a little while before we started the bottom half, hence why it looks crappy.

Now it was time to decide on the trim color. We didn't want to leave the panels brown, we wanted a little color. We had to choose between blue, red and green, and the girls decided to choose red, so now the whole wall is Georgia colors. 

They bought the red paint from the local hardware store and I don't remember the name of it. Yes, Cayce decided to paint on top of our old washing machine. I can;t wait to be rid of that thing. 

He still has to go back over the trim with another coat because we can see the brown through the red and we have been getting a lot of uses out of the wall so far. It is great but when Addy gets a hold of it and starts erasing everything, it's really messy.

Lowe's Workshop

Last Thursday, Lowe's did their first night workshop. I signed the girls up because Cayce was off work that night, and they hadn't been to a Lowes workshop in a while. It was a workshop that they have already done before, but they enjoyed it none the less. This was the same day that we did the chalkboard wall, so I included it as part of their school day. The workshop was building the Lowes race car in Nascar.

Sammy ended up pinching her finger and now she has a blood blister on her middle finger and when she shows people, she ends up flipping us off. It's funny but so wrong. Cayce didn't take many pictures, because they were also helping their friends that always go to the workshops at our Lowes. My kids are so helpful, and love showing off.

I am really going to miss it when they get older and can't attend these workshops anymore because these pictures are totally worth having.

Easter 2016

Our Easter was great. Cayce and I made the girls Easter baskets this year. We are starting to buy things ahead of time for holidays and birthdays and store them away. It's easier for us. Anyways, Cayce bought the cutest baskets from Target, so we can use them in years to come. The rest of the goodies came from Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart. I made the name tags out of construction paper and took some of the fake grass and tied it to the handle.

While Cayce was on the way home, I also put all of the plastic eggs we have gotten over the years and filled them with starburst jellybeans for the Easter egg hunt that the girls wanted to do, but it poured down rain the night before and it was so disgusting outside on Easter. We placed the finished baskets on the table and the bucket of jellybean filled eggs in the center.

On Easter morning, Cayce and I had to roll out of bed because we were so exhausted from the night before. Cleaning the kitchen, prepping food, doing the baskets and more cleaning, along with playing Fallout 4. I went straight for their rooms and put them in dresses.

They were so excited over there baskets, that it definitely took me a while to get this perfect picture, but it's the one for Easter 2016.

They got to pick through their baskets and Addy was all excited that she was saying thank you over and over on every item that she got. It was so cute. Sammy and Airy dug right into their candy and offered some to Cayce and I which I accepted. My favorite Easter candy is chocolate marshmallow eggs from the Family Dollar. I love those things.

They all got headbands in their favorite colors.  Addy's got broken throughout the day, and she was not happy.

Before I got up off the floor to go start cooking our delicious feast, I took one more picture of them all together. Addy is just so adorable in this picture.

While the ham was in the oven, and the black eye peas were cooking, it was time to start dying some eggs. While all of us were piled in the living room looking at Easter baskets, I had two pots of eggs boiling. One pot for dying eggs and the other for deviled eggs.

This last batch of eggs, I poured some glitter into the dye that was included in our little kit. They came out perfectly.

While we were waiting for the food to be done, we finished watching the first season of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. After that, we feasted on the deliciousness.

Told you the deviled eggs didn't make it to the table...lol.

For our dessert, we made toll house oatmeal and raisin cookies.

At the end of the night, my dad called and said that my mom had made little Easter baskets for the kids, so Cayce went by and picked them up. They were more than happy to get more candy.

They went to bed happy and Cayce and I went and planned out the next day's trip to Sullivan's Island. That post will be coming next week. Hope you all had a fantastic Easter.

Hello Spring Break!!

It is our spring break week and I am so excited about it. We have had some changes to our plans, but it was to be expected somewhat. We had planned on taking a trip out of town and go to Charleston today, but it's not going to happen and I know that it wasn't going to happen when I first mentioned it. You can't change a lazy person's attitude or mindset.

So instead, we will be doing some much needed clothes shopping and organizing the house and also wait for something that could be life changing to happen or not. I will not go into much detail now, but maybe one day, I will talk about it or not.

I am also going to be doing a lot of much needed school planning for the rest of the year and some summer work lessons and also get a head start on next year.

I am going to try to make it the best spring break possible, but the weather needs to cooperate and someone needs to give his PlayStation and break.
