July Wrap Up

This month overall sucked and my reading was OK. I got through 3 books on my July TBR, but I don't feel satisfied with that though. I wanted to finish all four books and right now I am just getting into Under The Dome by Stephen King. I did read some books to the girls this month but with everything that went wrong this month, I am just not happy with this wrap up.

I am also going to be starting to read the books on my TBR shelf above my desk and on my shelf in the hallway before I check out anymore books from the library for myself.

Freebie Haul 7/24- 7/29 100th Haul!!!

Well, here it is guys.... my 100th freebie haul. I started doing these hauls back in August of 2015. They have been so much fun and I have gotten some amazing things. I will be taking a 1 month hiatus from hauling but I will have a compilation haul with everything I receive during my break. I am taking this break just to finish getting ready for the upcoming school year. Addy will be starting Kindergarten and I will have all 3 to teach. I also want to take this time to come up with more exciting blog posts and to liven this back up again. I am not stopping other posts just freebie hauling for a month.

Sorry that my posts have been non existent recently. This whole month so far has just sucked and  have not been able to get into a groove. I am always rushing to finish things and Cayce and I have some personal things going on at the moment.

Anyways, I found this video while watching one of my favorite travel Youtuber FunForLouis. This is one if his best friends Dave and I absolutely died laughing when I first watched it, and I have watched it more times already. It is a great mood lifter for anyone having a rough time.

Review: I Almost Forgot About You by Terry McMillan

My Thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved Georgia's character from the very beginning. She is a successful career woman but she is bored with her life. She has two grown daughters and two ex husbands and a handful of past lovers. She decides that she wants to sell her part of her business, sell her house and go on a trip to do some soul searching. She also wants to contact every guy that she "loved" and find out what went wrong and if they are happy with their lives.

I found this book very funny and it was very eye opening at times. It made me remember my friends and how we talked to each other and called each other hussies and bitches. This book also has a very diverse cast of characters and it was amazing. I liked the little flashback sections to the guy that Georgia came back into contact with and I was OK with Stan. I feel he came on a little strong in both past and present parts and it made me a little uncomfortable.

Overall this book is now one of my favorites for this year. I will have to read more by this author!!

Review: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

Time for another book review. To be honest, I wasn't going to review this book, because come on, it's a classic, but I realized that I have almost no blog posts for this month and I also wanted to talk about it because once I got a physical copy of the book to read, I found it enjoyable and really good.

As you all know, I wanted to read another classic this year and I wanted to read a long book this summer. I planned on reading this book this year but not during the summer. I started this book back in May and finished it on Wednesday. I started reading it on my kindle app on my old ass Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet and I was bored. Les Miserables is now public domain and free on ebook. So I started reading it and I had so many problems. It was unabridged and I couldn't comprehend most of it and I was really bored. So I took more than a month off from it and requested a copy from my local library. I honestly think that if I hadn't have done that, I would have DNF'ed it.

When I got my library copy, I started reading it and found I could understand it better because it was the abridged version and I enjoyed the story a lot more. I love Jean Valjean's character and I wanted to kill the Thernadier's for how they were treating Cosette and their sons. Javert was a big pain in the ass.

It's also a shock to how every time I read a classic that when there are little children involved and living on the street or orphaned, it seems that the adults never give a shit about their well being and always yelling, threatening, abusing the little kids instead of helping them. In today's modern world, that wouldn't be happening.

I also cried when Jean Valjean died. I really enjoyed this book when I thought I wouldnt. I rated this 4 out of 5 because there was some parts where I would space out and was bored. I can't wait to watch the movie tonight and Cayce is going to watch it. He likes Phantom of the Opera, so hopefully he will like this movie too.

Hollar Haul Pt. 5

It is time for another Hollar haul. I got thiese items back in April and haven't had a chance to make another order on Hollar yet, but I am always on the sight "window" shopping and filling my cart. Darius Rucker - For The First Time (Audio)

There is a new Darius Rucker song out and I am loving it. He is my favorite country music singer and it also helps that he is a fellow South Carolinian!!

I had a horrible past week and blogging was the last thing on my mind. My Ac unit had broken once again and we had some horrid temps and I was basically living in the chair in front of my small window unit. We got my parent's old ass AC in our kitchen window and that has helped out tremendously, but this AC is almost as old as I am.

I will be getting a lot of posts drafted, edited, and scheduled this week. We have a lot of repairing to do around the house and that will be taking the majority of our time and we want it done before our school year starts next month...ugh.. not ready.

So enjoy the song, it will be on repeat for a while!

July TBR

As I said in yesterday's post, I am going to be reading two chunky books this month. I only planned to read one, but my stupid self decided to start Les Miserables at the beginning of May and I have been thinking about it ever since. I just picked it back up a few days ago and found that I can't read it on Kindle because it is just too long and I was paying more attention to the percentage at the bottom than to the story, so I got the edited and abridged paperback from the library.

These are the 4 books that I want to get too in this month. I know that I will be able to get through Les Miserables a little faster now than I would have if i would have stayed with the kindle public domain version. I am starting to read the Puffin Chalk classics that I bought to the girls and to go ahead and get them on my "new" book shelf. I have a new review copy on the way to me from Blogging For Books. And also I wanted to go ahead and get another Stephen King book under my belt and I really want to watch the TV show adaptation.
