End of the Month

I have never been more excited to see the month of September end. This is supposed to be a month that I love, and cherish, and I couldn't be happier to see it go away this year. This month was just not my cup of tea at all. I knew it would be stressful when it we lost power on the first day of the month.

I was so upset on Friday during our water situation, that I sat down, and wrote down every unexpected thing that happened this month. Yes, it is so negative, but I had to get it down on paper, rather than think about it all weekend. I was thinking about posting it, but I don't want that negativity on my blog for me to read and remember in the future.

The good thing about today was that my 3 hole puncher that I ordered yesterday shipped today and Cayce started his 2nd job today. Not that happy about Cayce having to work 2 jobs, but he wants to do it. It's going to take a lot of time away from the girls and I, but it will all work out in the end.

This weekend, we are going to spend every minute we have together when Cayce isn't working. We are going to go grocery shopping on Saturday after Cayce gets off work and we may do some geocaching before or after.

I don't know how the weekend is going to go, but I am determined to make the month of October better than September.

Letter Curriculum: Week 20

The week of the letter P. It was easy, and quick. We didn't have any major problems this week. I am only able to post some pictures because my phone is out of data once again. (SHOCKER). I hate my phone, I am ready for my new one.

On Tuesday, we had our math and color lessons. The math lesson was patterns, and the color lesson was periwinkle.

Her writing is getting better. I'm so proud of her, now we have to work on her numbers. On Wednesday, we didn't do science because I am out of ink in my printer. Super pissed about that. So we did the same thing that we did on Tuesday.

She worked on her lower case letters. On Thursday, once again, another day without ink. The social studies lesson was on police officers, so we talked about what they do and what kind of vehicles they drive and she knows their nickname, po-po's.

This is the only picture that I have for Thursday on the computer. The rest of the pictures are still on my phone. On Friday, we had a snag in our plans. A HUGE SNAG. We had an undercover cop staked out in our yard looking for suspicious activity on a meth house down the road. Then when I was walking back to my front door, I saw water pooling underneath and dripping from the inside of my well pump house. I flipped over the house and there were 3 pin prick holes spraying water. I called my dad and I had to cut my water off. Cayce had to miss 3 hours of work to fix it. Samantha ended up doing her schoolwork at 6:30. It was a pathetic. We only did her workbook, and music.

Geocaching Plans

I have been studying geocaching maps in South Carolina since my anniversary. I have already determined to find the ones that are around our home and little town first, and then when we go on our trips, add that into our itineraries.

We have already tried 3 times to find geocaches in 3 different areas. 1 in Swansea and 2 in Pelion. After we couldn't find them, I installed Google Earth. The first one we tried to look for was 1 in Pelion. I came home and looked on Google Earth and we were spot on to where it is located. Also, the same exact situation for the 1 in Swansea.

Today, I worked more on our Geocaching notebook. I have 6 towns written down and all the geocaches or some that are in those areas. I'm hoping that we will be able to find the Swansea one tomorrow or on Sunday. We are supposed to go to Branchville tomorrow for a railroad parade, and there is only one there.

I will post more when we get on a roll.

Christmas Planning

I started thinking about Christmas planning on September 15th. I get emails from the 101 days to Christmas website. I tried to do it last year, but it was just too hectic around here. I'm going to start getting everything done when I get more ink for my printer which will hopefully be soon. I'm already thinking of homemade gift ideas for immediate family.

I have found a new Christmas Eve tradition that I want to implement into the opening one gift before Christmas. It will be a big box with matching pajamas for the girls, a new Christmas book, a new Christmas movie to watch after Christmas dinner, and hot chocolate.

I'm hoping by next year, that we can start decorating our yard, but this year, we won't be able to do so because bills will not allow us to do so. I'm also trying to get our Fall Cleaning started with the outside and the inside.

I will post more about my Christmas planning in the next few months.

Letter Curriculum: Week 19

Thus was a review week for Samantha. We had a good week, but Wednesday and Thursday weren't that great. On Monday, we reviewed the letter K.

I gave her some stickers this week to get her more into the school. We did other pages as well. On Tuesday, we reviewed the letter L.

She did more pages and our lesson lasted almost an hour and a half. On Wednesday, we started having trouble. She wanted to call the "m" n, and she didn't want to do school anymore. That day was a short one.

On Thursday, we started off good at first but then I asked her what letter we were doing and she wouldn't tell me and she started crying and didn't want to do anything. So, I called a 3 minute break and while she was crying, she blew a spit bubble and I laughed, and that's what we did for 3 minutes. We made spit bubbles. After, she went right back to doing her school work.

On Friday, we had a long lesson. We did page after page of work and she enjoyed all of it.

This is one of the pages that she wanted to do. She had to sort the animals by color.

She walked around the house pointing out the color that was on the page.

Aloha Chicken with Pineapple Dip

Ingredients:
1/2 8oz can crushed pineapple in juice
4 1/2 tsp honey
boneless, skinless chicken breasts
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Whisk pineapple with juice and honey in a bowl until combined.

2. Season chicken cubes with salt and pepper, and place in plastic bag covered with 2/3 of pineapple mixture.

3. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Place chicken on baking pan lined with aluminum foil and broil on middle rack for 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

4. For dipping sauce: put remaining sauce in a saucepan and cook over medium heat for 1 minute or until thickened.

6 Year Anniversary

On Saturday, Cayce and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary. The week we went to Aiken, he got me my anniversary gifts. He got me the free lotion I wanted from Bath & Body Works. He also went to Belk and got me a beautiful bracelet.

 

I wanted to take a trip to the beach this year, but our anniversary trip was to Aiken.

I spent most of last week getting everything done around the house and personal done and out of the way before Saturday.

 

Saturday morning, Cayce took Samantha and Ariana to their Lowe's workshop and to the library. I stayed home with Adalyn and got stuff ready for the day. When they got back home, Cayce took Adalyn with him to the grocery store and I got my work done.

 

Our plans didn't go exactly as planned but it was still a good day.
