I have been wanting to start this series on my blog for a while now because it has become a book blog. I sometimes miss posting about things other than books. I am hoping to keep this series up for a while. I have a cart full on eBay and these have been in my cart for years.
Cayce only got a couple episodes into the show and was confused and basically bored. I asked him if he thought I would like it and he said I don't think you will, so you need to read the graphic novels and we can talk about it. That's what we do, I read the books of any adaptation and he will watch the adaptation and he lets me know if I like it or not. He knows what I like and hate.
After the first chapter in this volume, I was confused as hell. I was confused at the funeral and who the people were because it jumps right into the story. I seriously thought my library copy was missing some pages but it wasn't. The art style is not really my favorite. And I was not expecting sexual scenes what so ever. I wasn't freaked out and it wasn't as scary as people make it out to be. I was a little spooked by the reflection of the echo in the mirror in the well house.
I have the second volume and going to be reading it soon. I read somewhere that the first season of the show follow volumes 1, 2 and 3.
I was feeling iffy about this series because I just wasn't into the first volume. Since I already had the second one out from the library, I gave it a chance and it was better than the first. Not that sexual but still graphic. The introduction at the beginning had me going "what the fuck am I about to read?" and "is this person mentally sound?"
It doesn't necessarily pick up where it left off. It introduces some new characters that are in the "evil guy's" past. There is a racist comment and it is dated to give these two new characters background. This key that we are learning about has to be the most fucked up one in my opinion and this is only the second volume. I got weirded out when Bode opened his head and then they start sticking things in and yanking things out.
There was also a part where it made me uncomfortable. It was the homophobia between two trailer trash women and it is a stereotype that hits close to home. After reading this one, I can't wait to get to the third volume and see what else "Zack Wells" has up his sleeve. Also, I am just really excited to see the show now.

| I was expecting this book to be a dark apocalyptic thriller, instead it is a 309 page book about a whiny selfish spoiled brat that wants an apple and can't hear her dead mother anymore. Its just one big back and forth of a story just like the ship going back and forth in the ocean. disappointing read for sure, and not worth the dollar I paid for. no wonder I found it at a Dollar Tree! I honest have nothing else to say about this book because my review is pretty self explanatory. The ship is going back and forth in the ocean. Every other chapter ends with Lalla accepting the ship and every subsequent chapter is her wanting to know when are they going to get to their destination. The relationship between Lalla and Tom was very disgusting and very insta lovey. |

I have been waiting 5 years to read thus book. I finally decided to buy my own copy after waiting for my library to eventually get one of there own, which never happened. Then I waited for the price to go down because I was not about to spend over 20 bucks for a paperback copy that was not any sort of special edition or signed. I think the lowest price I ever seen was around 15 dollars and I just decided to get it then. I don't remember much about his first book which I have and read. I do remember the science and technical parts of the equipment they use and basic paranormal science.
This second book goes into the same science and technical talk and he talks more about how is becoming more or a recluse when he is not investigating. How he hates flying and his bodily functions. He also goes into more detail about producing his second documentary that I have seen and really enjoyed, which is Demon House. I wish that there was more detail about his time doing that investigation but this obviously came before the documentary was released.
I did get annoyed when he would talk about a topic and go on a tangent and go into the science terms and mumbo jumbo. There was also grammatical errors. It did seem like he recorded everything that he wanted to say and then sent it to Kelly Crigger who co-authored and said here, just put this in book format and add some pictures of me looking cool and call it done.
Some of the pictures included did not connect with the chapters and I wish that he would have added more personal investigation pictures that gave more emotion.
I have finally read this book a year after receiving it for a blog tour spot. It is October and this was the first book that I put at the very top of my TBR pile for the month. I did not know what to expect. I thought it was going to be a middle grade, but it is more of YA-Adult. It does have adult sexy times.
We follow a woman named Tuesday Mooney from Salem, Massachusetts. She is very goth and she is a high level researcher for a company that throws auctions and raises money for the Boston Hospital. Her job is to "spy" or gather information on rich people and ask them to give their money away.
On a night that she is working at an auction, one of these rich people, a guy named Vincent Pryce straight up dies. He lives a rather interesting obituary, inviting the people of Boston to come play a game. Very SAW inspired to me. The quest is centered around his love for Edgar Allen Poe.
Tuesday is the first player in the game who finds the first clue and is the first to get arrested, so she becomes a household name while this game is going. She is also being haunted by her former best friend who was murdered when they were teenagers.
I give this a 4 out of 5 because I really enjoyed the plot lines of murdered teens, vanishing fathers and a game inspired by one of my favorite poets of all time, Edgar Allen Poe. What I didn't like was the romance that kept being forced and the way Archie was as a person. he couldn't stand up for himself and he wasn't man enough in my opinion.
I did love Dex who is my favorite character out of all of them. He sings karaoke and does drag.
