I read this finally and I am sad that it is over. But I am excited that I can finally get to Six of Crows. I just can't wait for the second season of the show and knowing the actors faces for the characters made this so much more enjoyable. I fell in love with more characters. I actually feel bad for book Darkling and I know I am going to be a damn wreck when and if there will be a third season.
Going into this, I was expecting an epic quest with a lot of action and betrayals. There was a mighty quest for the amplifier and there was a lot of shocking reveals. One reveal made me turn away and I hoped with all my might that Leigh Bardugo wouldn't pull a Cassandra Clare with the kissing cousin trope. But, thankfully it didn't.
The beginning was a little boring and hard to swallow with the apparat spouting religion and trying to isolate Alina from everyone. Genya, I actually forgot what happened to her in the second book, so I didn't feel any pity for her. Mal grew on me in this and how he had to keep forcing himself to accept that Alina would be Queen and wouldn't be able to be with her because of his status was sad.
The death of the darkling made me tear up. I expect to bawl like a baby when this is played out in the show because I hate seeing my favorite actors "die". Him asking Alina to say his name one more time and asking not to be buried because he didn't want his grave desecrated made my heart break.
I did love learning more about Baghra's past and how it all started and the background of Mal and how the future of Keramzin played out. This is a series that I will be re-reading. I am not obsessed with it like The Hunger Games, but I am not done with this world.
Happy Sunday everyone. March is flying by and it is a great month so far. Two great things that have happened this past week is that we finally got our new dog. My husbands co-worker had a dog that he couldn't keep at his house because he is renting and his mom needed her gone because she wasn't in a secure location, and my daughter really wanted a german shepherd and that is what she is. She is a little over a year old and her name is Si.
She loves going on walks around our neighborhood and she got her first toy today which is a little tire that we throw up in the air and when she gets it, she immediately takes it into her kennel and leaves it kind of making me husband play fetch instead...lol.
The second piece of good news is that my husband applied for a new job with better pay and better benefits and was hired on the spot. He starts next month and we couldn't be more excited. This coming week will be a full one since the week after will be our spring break and will be full of doctor, dentist and vet appointments. Here's to hoping the gas prices keep going down.
How have all of ya'll been the last few weeks. What are ya'll reading. I have only finished four books so far this month and I feel a little slumpy, but when I do read, I don't want to stop. I am hoping to maybe finish 3-4 more books before the end of the month but with three kids and four furbabies and endless homeschool meetings, work tasks and housework to do from 5am-6pm Monday through Friday, hobbies have to take a back seat.
I haven't bought any books the past few weeks and I am trying to stay away from ebooks because my ebook library is like a graveyard. It's where my purchases go to die and never be read because out of sight out of mind.
We watched two movies this week on Disney plus. We have so many streaming services and we always go for the same one over and over. But I have to say that Disney plus has to be the best. The two movies we watched were
This was so good. My oldest has recently become infatuated with red pandas and this was perfect. Very funny and so wholesome.
The second movie is one that I am mad that we haven't watched sooner. We were going to watch it over labor day weekend at the drive in last year, but we left after the second movie as it was midnight and the 45 minute drive back home was torture. But watching this movie last night was a great decision as we didn't want it to end and wanted more. Hopefully there will be a sequel.
I want to watch some of the Oscar nominations this week, so I am going to have to do some research on what is on what streaming service. Have ya'll watched anything good this week, let me know.

One of my favorite books of the year. The day I got this from the library, I look on Goodreads and saw that the rating was a 2.94 and panicked. I immediately thought that this would be another My Summer of Love and Misfortune, which I read last year and regret immensely because it was so bad.
While reading this, I couldn't understand why so many people disliked this book because I fucking LOVE it. I give it all the stars.
Our main character is a woman named Lu and she is an artist living in New York. Her best friend Dawn is her manager and her childhood friend True also lives in her building. We meet them while she is working on a piece and she checks Twitter and finds out that Keanu Reeves is going to be married..... in 90 DAYS!!! She completely has a mental break and Dawn and True keep getting her attention. She can't believe that Keanu would marry someone who isn't his soul mate.. who isn't her.
While she is not obsessing and denying that Keanu would actually get married, her friend True who has been harboring a crush on her since childhood, finds a way to help Lu on her K-90 quest, which is to find Keanu and get him to marry her instead. They go on rides at Coney Island where they become extras and then they go to a convention and run into so many other actors along the way, but never the elusive Keanu.
I have read the reviews from the people who disliked this book and I can understand why they didn't like it because the personalities of Lu and Dawn are very childish, but I loved their crass humor. While reading this, I also started missing fanfiction. This did read as a fanfiction for me at some point and I was immediately taken back to 2015 where that was the year where I read nothing but Hunger Games fanfiction and met some of my now best friends.
I also think the title is very fitting because when you read this book and get all the Keanu movie references and see what True was doing throughout the whole book, then you will see that he was trying to become Keanu Reeves in his own way for Lu.
I think this would be an amazing movie adaptation which of course will star Keanu Reeves. I need to make a fancast now.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl. This weeks prompt is our spring TBRs. To be honest, some of these books were on my winter TBR and maybe my fall TBR last year. I need to make these a priority because I really REALLY want to read them.
Ever since I read book one of the New Hercule Poirot series by Sophie Hannah, I have been wanting to pick up Agatha Christie's books. Thanks to the 52 book club for having a Agatha Chrisite challenge that finally gave me the kick in the butt to start and I am thrilled to say that I am obsessed with Hercule Poirot. His character is so quirky and fantastical and serious and lovely. His little grey cells is pure genius.
We follow our main character Lieutenant Hastings as he is on his way to Styles to visit his friend John Cavendish. He meets a slew of characters and he runs into his friend Hercule Poirot who is now a Belgian refugee and is staying at the hotel in the village. That night the lady of the home, Mrs. Inglethorpe is poisoned and she dies. The house goes into a frenzy and Hercule Poirot is eventually called in. His does his investigating an running around and questioning. He is driving Hastings mad by "withholding" information and not being very clear in his reasoning.
The ending I was so ready to see who was the murderer that when it was revealed, I was shook. I completely new who the murderer was all along obviously but Hercule Poirot made it so I doubted even myself. But then an explanation is given as to why he had to get the murderer out of suspicion before substantial evidence was found, so he could be properly tried and not aquitted.
I freaking love Hercule Poirot and how he acts. I need to watch the show soon. I am going to be watching the episodes that go with the book, and then maybe one day I will watch it in order. The edition of the book I read also has an unpublished chapter 12 that couldn't be read when the book was originally published.
I am currently reading Hollowpox. I am reading it out loud to my kids and we are loving it. We have laughed multiple times so far and we are only 120 pages in.
I just finished a book today and I am going to take a day or two before I pick up another book just to give my brain a little rest. I really enjoyed this one and will have a review up soon.
I also finished Gone Girl and Amari and the Night Brothers and I am OBSESSED with Amari. I need the second book right now.
I still have a stack of library books that I need to read and that are due back Monday of next week, so this weekend will be full of reading. These two are my priority at the moment.
