School Week 12 Recap

12 weeks down. It's already November. Can this school year just slow down a notch. The time turned back an hour on Sunday and it was a big adjustment. The weather was so bad at the beginning of the week, we had to use power the whole day. I do not like using electricity during the day. Anyways, Monday seemed to go on and on, and we it was a productive day.
Ariana started her day off with dominoes

Sammy writing her "2" addition facts

While Sammy was still working on her addition facts, Airy was working in her workbooks.

Sammy working on her spelling words. She is learning and remembering words more and more everyday and she is reading sentences outloud.

Sammy killin it on this sight word match game.

Tuesday: Today was our first bad day all year. Like I said, I knew this day would be coming. It was just a day where the girls would not answer anything and they acted like they didn't know the answers. Sammy wouldn't read and Ariana was constantly going ummmmm and not saying anything. I felt like a failure today and it was awful. Cayce got home from work and I unloaded on him and I just couldn't help it, but I needed to vent my frustrations on him and he didn't need that extra stress. Anyways, we started the day with morning work and then I made them watch the first Tinkerbell movie because we are going back to seasons this week, well mainly fall. That's when all the trouble started. Sammy and Airy didn't pay attention to the movie at all. They did quiet time after that and it seemed like everything would be fine. Sammy was reading out words and Airy was pointing out pictures and naming them.
after quiet time.

a weather video Airy had to watch. Asked her questions and she wasn't paying attention to it at all. She wouldn't answer me.

we ended the day working with this clock. they read the time off the digital clock in my room and we put the hands on that time on this clock. That they enjoyed. Hoping that tomorrow will be better.

Wednesday: I was still a little frustrated going into the day, but we pushed forward. We started the day, of course, with morning work. After, they did workbooks. It was good because I would read the instructions to them and they went and did it without having to be told multiple times. After, we watched a movie. It was the Nickelodeon All About Fall. Then we got on to the candy science experiments. We did a total of 3. They were so fun.
experiment #1

success!!

Floating Oil Test. experiment #2

look at the pretty colors

another success!

Oil Spot Test. experiment #3

loved this one. the tootsie roll turned out so smooth on the top.

Sammy watching her starburst.

We then finished the day with some quiet time. It was a way better day than yesterday.

Thursday: It was another good day. They did their morning work and went straight to computer work that we haven't done for the past two days it seems. They were wanting to do quiet time together after and I read with them for a little while and finished one of my kindle books.
Sammy with her favorite book. She can read almost all of it by herself. Mr. Brown Can Moo. Can You?

This is an old book and I had to show it again in this post because look what is pasted in the back of it.

This checkout card was started in 1986. Like WOAH!!!

Then we read which is when I took the above pics. Then we did more science candy experiments. We did another 3 today.
experiment #1. we used a tootsie roll for this one.

Addy photobombed...lol. The experiment was a success

experiment #2. We used starburst

The girls dropping in their starburst. This experiment was a failure. It didn't do what it was supposed to do.

experiment #3.

This was the favorite experiment of the day. I liked it too.

look at the stripes. so amazing.

After the science lesson, I had Sammy write words and Ariana had to catch up on some computer work. Thats how Ariana finished her day and Sammy ended her day with dominoes.

Friday: Today was a tiring day. Cayce had to go into work around 4 so he left at 2 something this morning and I stayed up with him until he left. That was a big mistake. Sammy woke me up at 9AM and I was exhausted. about 45 minutes later Cayce got home from work and he went straight to bed. So we had a chill day of school. They did morning work and chores while I was still trying to wake up and get Adalyn fed. After they got Addy's clothes folded and put away, they did quiet time.

After quiet time, we watched Bambi and Bambi 2. I didn't have a movie day planned but it had to happen. I couldn't keep my eyes open through much of the movies. To end the day, Sammy did some copywork and Ariana did some workbook pages.

This was one of the workbooks she did in her Prep. curriculum. We never got to finish it.

Well, beside the temper tantrum day that we had on Tuesday, this week was very productive. We are calling out words to Sammy throughout the day and asking her what letter the word starts with. She is surprising Cayce and it is too funny. He is rarely home during our homeschool days and when he is, it's only for an hour.

Next week, they will be having Veteran's day off so on Monday and Tuesday, we will be doing Veteran's day work.

Allegiant Review

I finished this book on October 16th and wrote my review for Goodreads on the same day.

**Goodreads Review**

This one was my favorite of the whole series. I loved the action and defiance. I loved the different point of views switching between Tris and Tobias. The one thing I didn't like was the length of the chapters. Near the end when one page was one chapter and the next page was a new one, I don't like that kind of thing because it makes me feel like the author was half-assing and rushing through their work.

Everytime I would read a Tobias chapter, I would tense up because I felt like with him, you never know what is going to happen, but everytime I got to a Tris chapter, I was thinking to myself, that if she cries again in this chapter, I am going to throw this damn book out the window, no matter how good it is. I seriously could not put it down, and if I did throw it, I would be picking it back up a minute later.

Everyone that I have talked to about this book said that I would be crying when Tris got killed. I thought it was going to be a horrendous death or something happen like she would get blown up, but she only got shot. That kind of disappointed me because she wasn't given a fantastic death. She only died from being shot by a guy who eventually never remembered doing it, so she died doing something right, but wasn't given enough credit for it.

In the media and all these award shows, the character is portrayed as a bad ass heroin when she is really not. She is just this girl who dies doing the opposite of what her enemies were going to do. The bureau wanted to erase memories of everyone in the city, but Tris didn't want her family in friends in the city to forget about the people who abandoned them, instead she did the very thing she was against to her enemy.

Again, this book was my favorite, but this series to me was a MAJOR disappointment.

The reason this review is being posted 3 weeks after I have read it, is because my blog post calendar is full and this was the first available day. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it. If you want to talk or discuss, comment me.
