Our New Year's Eve and New Year's Day were amazing. Our new year's eve was basically cleaning the house and getting things organized and thrown out before the next day. We took down our tree and decorations and had to figure out where to put our tree because the box we put it in was ruined because of all the rain. It also rained all that day, so whenever it stopped for brief periods of time, Cayce and I had to pick which items he would run out to the building to store. It took 3-4 trips to get everything put away.
Cayce also re-arranged our kitchen again this year and I thought I would hate it and it not function, but it is working really well. I just have to wipe down the table more times during the day because he is also using that surface to chop and cut food. Those two things took up most of the day. Cayce also cooked supper for us. We had chicken with peas and snaps. After we put the kids to bed, Cayce and I watched Drive on Crackle.com. It was a great movie. Then we took a bath together, something that we don't do enough and we just talked and laughed. It was very welcome and well-needed. We had to watch the ball drop again on the internet and then we went and gave the kids their New Year's kisses. Cayce gave Addy her New Year's kiss first and Ariana got hers from me and then Cayce and I tackled Sammy together. They were sleepy but happy.
Since Cayce had to work on New Year's Day, we decided to cook our dinner in the slow cooker. We started this around 1AM, so it could be done and we could eat before Cayce had to leave. I bought a beef sirloin roast, and some baby carrots and 2 potatoes. We cut the baby carrots in half and diced both potatoes. We browned the roast on both sides and put it on top of the vegetables. Then we put a packet of onion soup mix all over the roast and veggies. Next we opened a can of cream of mushroom and pour that in and then we put a can of beef broth in, and that was it. We put it on low and let it cook overnight for 8-9 hours, We woke up around 10am, and the house was smelling so good. We immediately started on the rest of our dinner, which was black eyed peas with rice and cranberry sauce and yams.
This was so delicious.

After we got through eating, our neighbor came by with some presents for the kids. He and his family are moving, so he gave the girls some dolls that were for his nieces but hasn't seen in the last few years. The kids love them and they played all day with them after Cayce left for work.

It was pretty much a normal day after Cayce left. I cleaned up the house and played with the girls. When Cayce got home from work, we had another movie night. We watched Star Wars IV. He said he has seen bits and pieces of it, but never watched it all the way through. I had to fix that.
That's how 2016 started for my family. It was great. I was happy and not miserable like New Years Day 2015.
