We had a long and productive 4 day week of school. It was also a very busy week for our family and it is going to be a busy weekend as well, so I won't be explaining much about our days, because I have a small time frame to get this up and to spend the rest of the night with Cayce.
Monday: No School!! Adalyn's 5th BIRTHDAY
Tuesday: We had a fairly easy day with morning work and then reading Witches Don't Do Backflips, and watching Magic School Bus.
To end our day, we read the first three chapters of The Vile Village. I didn't take many pictures, because we didn't do anything worth taking a picture, and I was busy catching up from my day off for Addy's birthday.
Wednesday: We started the day early, and after morning work, Ariana worked on Easy Peasy copy work and Samantha did some workbook pages. Then we read more of The Vile Village. We had to include Addy because she wanted to be with us and have another day together. She watched a Settlers & Native Americans documentary with Sam and Ariana.
After the documentary, Ariana had reading time while Samantha did 30 minutes of Mathseeds on Reading Eggs.
After 30 minutes were up, they switched. Ariana got through two lessons.
Thursday: Today was the longest school day for me. Ariana had her second dentist appointment to have a filling and Samantha started her day at 8AM. I wanted her to be done before Ariana and Addy got back from their appointments, so I could devote the afternoon to Ariana's school time. Samantha got so much done. She did her morning work and did an hour of Reading Eggs.
Then she did some workbook pages that also covered material that she learned on Reading Eggs.
Thirty minutes after working in her workbook, she did an hour an a half of Easy Peasy and then she ended her day with watching two episodes of Planet Earth and she is in love with that show. Then Ariana got home and she was so exhausted and she was talking about everything that she learned from the dentist and she was asking questions and the doctor also asked her questions during Adalyn's checkup. So with all of that, I gave her a half day. She did 2 hours and 10 minutes worth of work. She did her chores and notebook. Then she did 45 minutes of Reading Eggs.
To end her day, she did two pages of Easy Peasy copy work and then she watched an episode of Planet Earth and she enjoyed it, but not as much as Samantha.
Friday: Since we didn't read any of The Vile Village the day before, that's how we started our day. After we watched another YouTube video on Pilgrims and the Mayflower.
When we finished watching the documentary, they did their own little Native American girl craft and they turned out so cute. Samantha finished her day with reading time and Ariana did too along with copy work pages.
We are going to have another productive week next week and there is one thing that I want to try. I am hoping that it will help get more done and to help get more practice on certain things that they are having trouble with. I have really learned their strengths and weaknesses this year. Samantha is really great with math, but not so good with reading or sounding out her letters. Ariana is great at reading, but she is a little slow with the math and hesitates on every problem. I am thinking of working with them on the weekend as well on their problem areas.
