School Week 15 Recap

Week 15 was a short week. We had a three day week. It was Thanksgiving this week, and it was hectic. Before Thursday, I kept thinking that Thursday and Friday was going to be a wasteful day with no school and I was freaking out internally. But, I ended up getting over that anxiety.

Monday: We started the day with shopping. I wanted to get out of the house with the kids and Samantha wanted to spend some money. So we had to make a run to the grocery store anyways, so she helped with that and then she went on a trip to Target to find her Christmas ornament for a project that I want to do. While she was off with Cayce, I was doing school with Ariana. I didn't take pictures with her because we were so focused on what we were doing. I did take a picture of her record book.
She did her workbooks and some Thanksgiving worksheets. We did quiet time together and she enjoyed doing that with just me. Sammy couldn't find the ornament we wanted, because they were all out at Target and Dollar Tree, so she ended up using her gift card to get a Christmas movie.

After Target, they had to head back to the grocery store to pick up a new bucket for Ariana for the table to keep on the table for her notebooks and workbooks.

When Sammy got back home, she did her daily notebook and her quiet time and I did half of that with her. Ariana was already done with her work for the day, and after Sammy's quiet time, she was tired and done.

Tuesday: Today was a very irregular day because I woke up super late and right when I went to go get Addy changed, my grandma showed up and we talked for an hour. The girls did some of their chores during that hour, so I have that recorded. When my grandma left, they did their morning work and finished chores that needed my assistance, the dishes and clothes in the dryer.

After they got done with chores, they wanted to do quiet time and read together today. We also read some of our Thanksgiving books that we got from the library. While Sammy was doing her Thanskgiving worksheets that she didn't do the day before, Airy was doing her computer work.

Sammy took her time on her worksheets. They were math problems and a word search. She LOVES word searches, so while she was still doing that, Airy moved on to making her letters out of dominoes.

To end our long day, I wanted to watch a movie with them, so we watched Open Season. That was so hilarious. I have never seen it and I know it is an old movie.

Wednesday: We started the day off with a movie. They watched a generic "Bee Movie". I call it generic because it was almost exactly like Bee Movie with Jerry Seinfeld. But they enjoyed it, I did not.

Sammy and Airy drew pictures after the movie and this is Sammy's picture. They did their morning work and quiet time after that.

Then we got to the computer work. Now ya'll know I have to get the fun stuff out of the way and then the work comes in around the end of the day. They made paper turkeys today. I had printed off these sheets last week and wanted to do them the day before Thanksgiving.  Sammy did her turkey craft while Airy was doing her computer work.

After Sammy finished, she did some copywork for her Easy Peasy lessons and Airy started on her craft.

I glued Airy's for her since it was getting late and I wanted to put A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving in to end out our Thanksgiving study and to get excited for tomorrow.

Thursday: NO SCHOOL!!!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Friday: I planned on doing school, but after talking with Cayce, we decided not too. Cayce had to work his first black Friday and he didn't get home until 5AM this morning, and when he works late nights, I stay up because I basically can't sleep without him. So I finally started drifting off around 3AM, and I was exhausted when the girls got up. So we are calling this the TURKEY RECOVERY DAY.

**NOTE**
Tomorrow is Saturday, and there is a Home Depot workshop happening, so we are going to be doing a Saturday school to make up for Friday. Next year, I will definitely be giving us the day of an after major holidays. New Years, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

The Clock Struck One review

I received this book for an honest review. It is a novella, so it was short. I usually stay away from novellas. I finished this last Sunday and I posted my review on Goodreads. I will post it on here as well.

**Goodreads Review

Another novella checked off my list. Thank you Helen Deakin for the free copy. Now to start my review, when I first started reading this, I was completely not into it. I thought about ending it after the first 2 chapters because I wasn't impressed. The writing style is what I considered teenager style. I pushed through and started to like it. When it got to where she was walking from town in the middle of the night and the old woman, that scared me, along with when she was in the bath tub. I was reading it around my kids bedtime and I had to stop and keep my kids up later than usual because I was creeped out.

The ending was not my favorite. I wish there was more on the guy Josh and how Sarah-Tamara got into the situation. Who was the old lady? Usually this is the reason I don't read novella's because there are always questions after. It has an amazing creep factor!!! At the end where the author note is, I read where she had written it in her teenage years and it made a lot of sense to the writing style. The dialect threw me off and it was one of the reason I was cringing at it in the beginning.

The Clock Struck One

I am now getting into my ARc's that I have gotten to review. This is the first one that I chose. I started reading this on the 12th. I will be giving my review as usual on Goodreads and I will be posting my review tomorrow on here. Since I don't have a physical copy of the book, I will be inserting a picture from the Goodreads page.

Hunger Games OVER! #sadface

Last night Cayce and I went to the drive in  to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay pt. 2. I was excited to see everything, but I was upset to know that it was all over at the credits. I started my #thehungergames watch party last Thursday with the first movie.

Cayce and I had an at home date night. Supper was good. Tyson honey BBQ chicken bites, four cheese mashed potatoes, cream style corn and of course mac and cheese. Look at my Catching Fire peeta cup in the background.

Friday night we watched Catching Fire. The sequel is my favorite. We had turkey burgers for supper, but I didn't eat with Cayce. I had to have a Starbucks doubleshot to help me stay awake because it was a long day, but I enjoyed my favorite.

On Saturday, Cayce would be coming home late from work, so we started and watched a good hour an a half of Mockingjay pt. 1 before he left. We ate while we were watching. We had a late breakfast of turkey bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese, green onions and mushrooms.

Yesterday, I was excited and anxious. I had to stay off of tumblr because people were posting spoilers and pictures of the epilogue and I was not having it, but I also felt lost that I couldn't go on my favorite social media platform. To my followers who are reading this and have a tumblr page, please tag your spoilers for people. Cayce and I were second in line this year, but the first car on the main field.
The gates opened at 6:30 and the movie didn't start until 8:00, so Cayce and I had plenty of time to relax, but Cayce decided to take us mudding in our car and got a crap ton of mud all over the fan belts and had to get so much water to clean off the belts so the car wouldn't shake when we turned the defroster on. But, we got it cleaned and the night went on with me crying over Finnick dying, Peeta screaming, and Prim and Buttercup and toastbabies.... ugh. I was riding home and I felt empty. I kept thinking about what I was going to fan girl about now and I felt numb. I wasn't chatty on the way home and Cayce kept asking me if I was alright.

I wasn't alright, the movie killed me. LOL. It was an amazing movie and the books are still my number one favorite series. Thanks so much to Suzanne Collins for coming up with those genius ideas.

Library Haul #15

This haul is going to be short and sweet. I have some more movies coming in tomorrow but those will not be included in this haul, because they are movies that I haven't seen in a long time. I will list them in next week's haul, but no pictures. So, here we go>>>>>

1. Corduroy's Thanksgiving
I loved the Corduroy books as a kid.

2. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
I'm still trying to get into Charlie Brown. The kids love Snoopy.

3. "Twas the day after Thanksgiving
I know that the kids will enjoy this book because it has the picture flaps in them and they love those kinds of books. Those were some of my favorites growing up too.

4. Thanksgiving Fun
This book is full of facts, jokes and recipes. We will be trying to do some of the recipes this week, or on Thanksgiving day.

Freebie Haul 11/16- 11/21

This was a very light freebie week. I kind of figured it would be because it was the week before Thanksgiving. I am expecting another light to no freebie week next week. Cayce called this a crap week because he loves seeing the freebies we get.

Monday: I got the freebie I have been waiting for, for weeks. I got an email saying that I would be getting it, and I finally have it. I am hoping that this will help my face because I have severe adult acne.

Thursday: It was another 1 freebie day. Today it was water test strips with a coupon and then a birthday freebie.

The coupon doesn't expire until the year 2020!

Free Nibbler from Zaxby's

Friday: I got 2 freebies today. One was a complete fluke. A complete disappointment and fire hazard!!!!
Power Bank from Black&Mild
I was so excited to get this and try it. I followed the directions and the next thing I know, I am smelling smoke and hearing popping noises. I go to pick it up and I burnt myself, it was so hot. It felt like I had touched a stove eye. I immediately threw it into a bucket of water that was next to my front porch. My hubby has his on the way, so hopefully that one won't be a disappointment or fire hazard.
