This week was a good one but it wasn't as fast as last week. We had a very productive week and we are getting a whole lot more done because we have basically 19 days left of school. We started a new program that will be going until we finish school. We started Reading Eggs, we got a free 4 week trial and hopefully, we can buy a year subscription to do over the summer and all of next year.
Monday: Today was an unplanned day. I freak out every Sunday thinking what are we going to do for school on the next day. I don't plan out the days, even though I really should because it would really save me the anxiety attacks, but I am a procrastinator. So, I went through old workbooks from last year. Yep, Ariana did pre-k review pages and Sammy did Kindergarten review pages.. stupid I know, but I wanted them done.
They flew through these pages though, so that is telling me that they do know these topics. I gave them a break between workbook pages and they did quiet time and then Ariana finished her day with a number review packet and Samantha watched a Youtube video on living and nonliving things and even I learned something... I did not know that a cooked turkey is still considered a living thing!!
Tuesday: Cayce and I started our morning off with watching Star Wars and the girls wanted to watch too. I decided why the hell not because it is a classic. They loved the light sabers and C3PO and R2-D2. They absolutely loved JaJa Jinx, he is hilarious. After the movie, I printed them off some Star Wars coloring pages that I received in an email a few days ago.
After the pages, they did quiet time. Then we read library books. These books were funny, my favorite was the duck for president book. That was just too cute and I will be buying our own copy probably for Christmas. The other book that I absolutely loved was the Goldilocks and One Bear. That was a cute spin on the fairy tale.
To end the day, we talked about money. Basically the main thing that makes the world go round. If you don't have it, your basically fucked! My kids have money in their little change purses. We are teaching them to save every penny that they get, find or earn. We are teaching them money responsibilty, something that Cayce's parents and my parents neglected to teach us.
Wednesday: We had a very late start to the day. They did morning work and quiet time. After that, Sammy got out her spelling caps to work on her Long A sight words while Ariana worked on her handwriting.
The rest of the day, they did workbooks and computer work.
math game.
Ariana is doing a whole lot better at her ABC sign language than Samantha.
Thursday: We started the day off with morning work and chores and then they watched Goosebumps. I still have my Goosebump books from my childhood and they are sitting on a shelf in the girls room. I was going to read one of the books to them, but decided against it. After the movie, they did quiet time.
Airy did writing and Sammy did computer work.
Sammy loved this game. She had to do math problems and every right answer, she would go to a new place in the world. She flew around the world in under 3 minutes.
Friday: The girls were so eager to start school and all they wanted to do was Reading Eggs. I got a free 4 week trial for it on Thursday night and they were hooked and it was all they talked about. They did morning work and Ariana did quiet time first. Sammy did 2 days worth of normal computer work and she had a test and computer vocabulary to go with it.
she did this in less than 3 minutes.
addition pinball
After Ariana's quiet time, Sammy finished up her computer work and did her quiet time. Ariana did 4 days worth of computer work. She is slowly but surely getting through her Easy Peasy getting ready 1 unit.
HIPPIE VAN!!!
We started the letter V today but really this is review of what she knows. After she finished her computer work, she did workbooks while Sammy was working on Reading Eggs.
Samantha try #1
Samantha #2
Sammy did an hours worth of Reading Eggs and it was hard to get her to stop and let Ariana have her turn. I think it is time to utilize our new blue laptop. Ariana worked on her Reading Eggs for an hour. I didn't let her take a place test, which I should have done because the lessons she is doing now are letters, but she is flying through it and loving it.
I am giving them every opportunity to work on this program, because we only have 23 days. We are planning on buying a 12 month subscription, because they love it and it is really helping.
