Freebie Haul 8/22- 8/27

This was another good freebie week. I was surprised to get any of my freebies because we have a new mail lady doing our route most of the week and she is a bitch. She drives all up in my yard and goes into my back yard to turn around when we have a perfectly good circle driveway and she is trying to get our favorite mail lady fired for "racist" comments. And on days when I am expecting packages, she is doing mail that day, so I have a feeling that she is stealing my stuff, because I have had 2 packages not be delivered at all. But, I am trying to sort all that out, so here are my freebies for the week.

Monday: No Freebies

Tuesday: This was the best freebie day.
Kellogg's Rewards: Cake Pop Crush

Kellogg's Rewards: A Corner of the Universe

Culturelle Kids Smiley360 mission kit

Advil PM crowdkit from CrowdTap

Wednesday: I got junk mail today and I was expecting a package.... ERRRRR! So, the only thing I got was from Edible Arrangements.
Chocolate and white chocolate dipped banana piece

Thursday: Got another freebie from Kellogg's Rewards
Goosebumps Most Wanted: Frankenstein's Dog

Friday: My most favorite freebie for the week came today. It was a little Covergirl cosmetic bag with BB cream, covergirl lip lava, & covergirl outlast stay brilliant nail polish.

September 5, 2016 issue of ESPN magazine

Saturday: No Mail

Kind of disappointed that I once again didn't I didn't get packages I was expecting. I have a feeling that I will be raising hell to the post office soon, and to the main USPS office.

School Week 2 Photo Diary

This week went by a little slower but it was nice to have it go slowly. We had another productive week. There were some moments this week, where we had little attitude problems.. but we got through it.

Monday: The day started off with my desktop and laptop wanting to update files at the same time and that through me off track. But, I got to postpone my update on the laptop at the last minute and I ended up finding a youtube video on Ancient Egypt.

The speakers on the laptop suck, so I had to plug in my little Pringle speaker and I didn't have a cup to put that in, but it was better. Before the video, they did quiet time. It was necessary for me because I was losing my shit about the computers updating. **Note to self: Schedule update for computers on weekends**

Tuesday: We did more stuff on Ancient Egypt. They got to color their own sarcophagus' and make their own cartouche.

After they did that, we went to science and completed our first lesson by writing vocab words.

Wednesday: They watched another video of King Tut and then did separate work for the rest of the day.

After the video, Ariana started her reading eggs while Samantha went and colored in her adult coloring book again with Cayce. She loves it and loves that she gets to match colors on both sides.

This picture right here makes me so proud of her because how many 7 year olds have this sort of patience to color something like this. AMAZING!

Thursday: We started the day off with Ariana doing her quiet time first and Samantha working on her Easy Peasy. She was so far behind on that and we caught up a few days.

Then they switched and Ariana worked on her Easy Peasy. She wasn't far behind but a couple days and she is caught up to 2 days behind schedule, and she is loving her Jolly Robin story.

They ended the day with working on their new history lesson. I decided to do a community lesson for the next one so they can learn more about their hometown and our neighborhood.

Below they had to draw maps of our neighborhood. Sammy did good and Ariana drew a picture of our house from the road. She did a streetview...lol.

Friday: Today is when our attitude level spiked. I don't know why we were so wound up, but we all had a not bad but not great day either. They started with quiet time because my nerves were shot. Cayce is getting a new job and he learned that today during his shift at Target and I was anxiously waiting for that phone call to say yes I got it.

So, Samatha started her day off with quiet time while Ariana worked on reading eggs and then they switched. When Samantha started her reading eggs and was not doing such a great job like she always does, we both lost our tempers and we got loud with each other. That hasn't happened in a while, and it sucked.

So, I made the decision to have a movie day again and watch The Mummy. Yea, yea I know that it's not age appropriate and I didn't care. To keep them from getting scared and to answer their questions that they did most certainly have...let me tell you, we watched it in my room.

Needless to say, they LOVED it and they are wanting to watch the sequel, which we will be doing tomorrow. They only got scared a few times but they really enjoyed it and learned about the scarabs and they kept asking when King Tut was going to come into scenes, and they were disappointed to learn that he wasn't in that movie.

UnEnchanted Review

I have finally read one of my many kindle books. I have not read a single one this year and my kindle TBR list is coming back in October and what I wanted was that pile to be shrunk and it has just grown bigger....oops. While I was waiting one week for a book to come to the library that I had on request, I really wanted to read. I grabbed my tablet because I am too poor for a real kindle and opened this story. It is called UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn. This is the first book that I have read that is fairy tale re-telling.

It is about a girl named Mina Grime, and she is basically a walking talking disaster. She has moved around from place to place with her mom and little brother. Her little brother is basically a mute and her mom works for a cleaning service. Everyday, something awful happens to Mina and her mother knows exactly why. Mina's father was killed by unfortunate events or "curse" but we will get to that in a second.

Mina's goes on this field trip to a bakery and she ends up saving the popular boys life who is also her crush. She starts getting a lot more attention and her mother finds out and wants to pack up and move away immediately. This is where she demands to know why she is so accident prone and she finds out that she is from the Grimm family. The brothers Grimm who wrote fairy tales. Well basically, there is a curse put on the family and all the fairy tales have turned into quest. If you pass a quest, you go to the next story. Fail a quest and you die and it goes on to the next family member.

Basically, there are 3 fairy tale re-tellings in this book. The two minor ones are Hansel and Gretel and I think The Bull and The Stag. The main re-telling is obvious by the red cape on the cover. It is Little Red Riding Hood. I loved this book, and I am so happy that I got it for free. Now I am just trying to figure out if I want to buy the rest of the books on Kindle and read those first or finish another series first on Kindle.

This book is still free to download on Kindle, so go get it and read it. And if you don't have Kindle, just do what I did and download the Kindle app.

Flirt Review

It's time for another review on a Laurell K. Hamilton novel. This book was short and a quick read for me. I read it in a day because I had to return it to the library the next day.. I was busy the whole two weeks I had it.
I gave this a 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. It didn't get the 5th star because this cover does not make any sense. No where in the story does it mention a razor blade. Overall, the plot was amazing. It goes back to Anita's day job as a zombie animator. She is talking to this rich guy who wants his dead wife brought "back to life". He has heard stories of how Anita's can make her corpses look like they are still alive, and he wants to take her back home and keep her. He doesn't understand that she will start rotting and he keeps trying to throw money at Anita, but she doesn't budge. He meets her sweeties before going to lunch and talks about his wife going to Guilty Pleasures and loving Nathaniel and Jason.

Anita gets another "bad" client who wants her husband raised so she can punish him for cheating and not giving her children, when he went and had children with another woman. Anita refuses the job and once again, money is just being thrown into her face. Anita heads back to the restaurant where she had lunch with the boys and flirts with the waiter. There she meets a powerful and bad shape shifter. He is a lion who has no territory. She learns that he and his goons have been hired to kidnap her.

The story gets really good at the end, so I am not going to spoil it in this review. If you want to know what happens... go read it and then come back and talk to me!

School Week 1 Photo Diary

I am going to be doing a little photo diary this year of our homeschool journey and see if this will work better for me, since time is not my friend. Our first week flew by so fast and surprisingly we got so much done. The girls had fun, and can't wait to start week 2 tomorrow.

Monday: I already shared our first day of school pictures. I have a couple more from the first day, but was mostly preoccupied with everything else in the moment.

Tuesday: I didn't take many pictures because I forgot, but I did get some of them doing a science activity of sorting and organizing pictures that they cut from old magazines.

One more picture from the day is Samantha with her drawing of Horton Hatches an Egg. She had to listen to the story for her Easy Peasy lesson, and she loved it.

Wednesday: Today was mostly pictures of Samantha starting in her adult coloring book that Cayce wanted to get her and teach her to do. She caught on quick to keep everything the same on the opposite side and she learned that symmetry.

We also started reading Charlotte's Web out loud and the kids LOVE IT! Cayce even laughed a couple times.

While Samantha was doing her art with Cayce, Ariana was working on her reading eggs.

Thursday: I brought back quiet time today. The girls were excited for it. They were starting to burn out and have attitudes on Thursday and Friday.

They did their quiet times separate though and did computer work and then switched. I am thinking of having quiet time only when they need it. If they start getting grumpy, then I will put quiet time in place of what ever I have planned next that day and just push that plan to the next day.
Ariana learning about odds and evens

Sammy doing her mathseeds on reading eggs.

Friday: I have made a new rule this year that we will only watch movies if they go with what we are doing and it will only be on Fridays at the end of the day. So we had a movie day today and we watched Charlotte's Web. We are halfway done with the book, so they watched the movie and I had them discuss at the end what was similar to the book and what was different. The understood it and they also told me their favorite parts and the parts they hated.

I cannot wait for this week. I even had fun last week and I was stressing the whole week before, actually I think I was stressing all summer about the start of this school year. I am going to try to keep this year fun, so it can go by fast but also be interesting for the kids.

Review: Alice in Borderland volume 1 by Haro Aso *spoilers* PART 2

I decided to split my blogpost for volume 1 into 2 because it would be hella long and I wasn't about that. Plus having the first part ...
