School Week 4 Photo Diary

This was our first 6 day school week of the year. That is why this post is being posted tonight, instead of yesterday. It was a long and stressful week.

Monday: It was labor day so we spent all day learning about the holiday and jobs.

We watched youtube videos and they made job hats

Ariana the fire fighter

Tuesday: We focused on lesson pathways work today. I am going back and forth doing lessons from the kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade sections. It is helping out and more fun for them.

Wednesday: We did more lesson pathways today and read our library books. They made their own little crowns just like Max in Where the Wild Things Are.

Samantha finished her first coloring page in her book and she started this horse.

Thursday: Today we mostly did Easy Peasy and workbooks, along with quiet time.

Friday: Today was a shopping day for school. They read my shopping list and got the quantities and they also read coupons and prices. No pictures because we focused on shopping and plus we had to hurry home because it was scorching hot and the air quality sucked that day.

Saturday: Today, we started with a trip to the library. They got to play with some kids who were also there and they got a first hand experience in bullying. It wasn't exactly bullying, but there was a little boy bossing them around and taking the stuff they were playing with away from them. Cayce was not happy and I was not happy either. They learned that bullying is not good and that it's not tolerated. No pictures today either.

August Favorite Recipe

This month, the favorite meal that I made that was requested pretty much every day after I made it was Taco Rice Tacos. It was just something that threw together because I didn't want to have regular tacos and I didn't have big burrito tortillas, and I just didn't want to have taco rice by itself.

To start off with, I used 1 pound of lean hamburger meat. That is the only kind of hamburger meat we eat, because we absolutely hate draining grease from regular ground beef, and it makes me sick. I browned the meat and then I added the vegetables.
I dumped the tomatoes along with the juice into the pan and I drained half of the corn juice and added 1/4th cup of water and then mixed in the taco seasoning.

While the mix was boiling, my rice was cooking. I use 3 and 1/4 cups of water and boil that and then add my 1 and 1/2 cups rice and I let it cook for 18 minutes. The rice comes out so moist and fluffy. #DELICIOUS!

When my rice got done, I scooped out 2 spoonfuls at a time and mixed it together. I didn't end up using all the rice, and so that went to another meal the next night.

LOOKS SO DAMN TASTY!

I wanted to make burritos, but the tortillas I had weren't big enough, so we just had it taco style. The girls enjoyed it and they usually eat two tacos each, but that night they had 3 each and there was still more left over for lunch the next day.

My kids will eat anything that is put in front of them. I am not raising picky eaters. I wasn't picky growing up, but there are some things I will not touch.. like pickles, okra, sauerkraut. Cayce won't eat lima beans or butterbeans, but he will eat sauerkraut and pig's feet... gross, I know.

So that is last month's favorite meal. I am wanting to break out my slow cooker this month, and make some beef stew and pork roast with veggies. So, if you liked this post, let me know. I have another recipe that I want to post before next month, that the kids absolutely love and want every single morning for breakfast.. but I am not a breakfast person and I don't cook breakfast unless Cayce is in the kitchen cooking with me.

Hope you all have a good night
XOXO

Freebie Haul 8/29- 9/3

Hey ya'll, sorry that this post is SUPER late. All of last week and the whole weekend was just a massive blur and also exhausting. With Cayce starting his new job and me starting to have doubts already about this school year and we only had three days of school last week, it's all been a bit overwhelming. The freebies last week wasn't that great, but it's something. So, let's start this haul.

Monday: more magazines for the kids to use during school.
September 8, 2016 issue of Rolling Stone

September 5, 2016 issue of Us Weekly

Tuesday: got another magazine and Cayce got a free bracelet from school.
September 2016 issue of allure magazine

scdiscus.org braclet from Cayce GED program

Wednesday: No freebies

Thursday: No freebies.

Friday: I didn't get the chance to check my mail because it was pouring rain all day from Hurricane Hermine. My front yard was flooded. I don't even know if the mail did run.

Saturday: There was a bunch of mail in my box and some of it were freebies. I don't know if any of it was yesterday's but it is going to be today's haul.
October 15, 2016 issue of Wine Spectator

Kellogg's Family Rewards: A Bad case of Stripes and Curveball: The Year I Lost My Grip

Insta Natural Vitamin C Moisturizer

This week was not a great week for freebies and I am not so sure about next week either. I am going to have a talk with my post office because I know I should be getting a lot more freebies than I am getting at the moment. Sorry this post was late, but hopefully real life will calm down soon.

School Week 3 Photo Diary

This week was just unexpected. I was feeling awful on Monday and thought a cold was coming on. I talked to Cayce and he said that if I needed to take a day off, take it off and rest and not to push it. So they had Monday off which they made up today. So Tuesday is where we are going to start.

Tuesday: I had them finish the rest of their pharaoh costumes pages. I didn't print enough copies of the sheets, so they finally finished those. I am hoping that one of them will wear it for Halloween.

They also did computer work and other work, along with quiet time.

Wednesday: It was a day of computer work, coloring book and reading a new book.

Samantha's owl is looking good!

All three were watching a video of Mercy Watson

Thursday: Today they did a lot of work in their workbooks and did more Easy Peasy lessons. We also learned about scientific tools.

I didn't take any more pictures after the workbooks because I wanted to focus on the new science lessons.

Friday: Today was the day that we had to deal with Hurricane Hermine. It rained all day and it was windy. I called off the day from school because our power kept going in and out and our internet was being crappy. They did learn about hurricanes though and they saw first hand more flooding.

Saturday: They made Monday up today. They had a Home Depot workshop where they made back to school white boards which is awesome so we can start playing jeopardy and trivia games.

They also went to the library today.

I Don't Know What You Know Me From Review

Cayce picked up this book for me one day while he and Addy were walking at the riverwalk. There is a little free library or "book crossing" box there and he looked through it and picked it up. He brought it home to me and I told him that I don't read these kinds of books by celebrities, but I would read this for him so I wouldn't hurt his feelings.

I instantly recognized her from the movie 13 going on 30. I thought straight from the beginning that I wouldn't really like it, but I was hooked because what was written was funny. Her home life and being an only child. Her mom being a former nun turned OCD woman. Pictures of her and her grandparents. The bit about her diaries and her first apartment in Hollywood and the couch on the side of the street...lmao. She also talks about her step kids and her husbands ex wife who she dubs the "hot sheriff".

My most favorite chapter was where she listed the jobs she could have if she wasn't acting. One job listed was Target Team Member. Now ya'll know that Cayce works at Target. She says that she can fold clothes and rock the color red and I just about died laughing. It was funny that she has the little small connection to my hubby and the millions of other Target employees in the country.

I am glad that Cayce found this book for me and that someone left it in the little free library for someone to get many laughs.

Review: Alice in Borderland volume 1 by Haro Aso *spoilers* PART 2

I decided to split my blogpost for volume 1 into 2 because it would be hella long and I wasn't about that. Plus having the first part ...
