School Week 8 Photo Diary

This week was really hectic. We had to deal with a major hurricane coming our way and it was brutal. We are fine and our week was productive but long.

Monday: We had a normal start to the day. We had to do some major chores around the house because we definitely had a lazy weekend and the house was a wreck. It took a good hour to put clothes away, start clothes, put toys away and clean the kitchen. After that, I started feeling awful and started having pulling sensations in my chest and I was exhausted. So, they did some reading and I laid down and fell straight to sleep. I was in an out of sleep and listening to Sammy read a page or Ariana reading words and sounding out words. I didn't take many pictures today because after reading time, they watched videos on the Colossus of Rhodes. The final wonder in our Seven Wonders of the World part 2 unit. They enjoyed the videos and we had a discussion at the end and they answered every question right. Ariana loves the Pyramids and Samantha loves the statue of Zeus. To end the day, they started a project that they should have started the first week of school, but we are going to be catching up tomorrow.

Tuesday: It was a late start to the day, so while they were eating breakfast, I was reading aloud. They enjoyed it a lot and want to do it more. After we got done reading and eating breakfast, they went to do their morning routines. After they wanted to read some more, so they had that and to end the rest of the day, they did workbooks.

Wednesday: It was supposed to be a school day, but the night before the Governor of South Carolina issued a state of emergency and cancelled all schools for the rest of the week. We had to go grocery shopping and all the grocery stores were packed. We didn't get back home until a hour before Cayce had to leave for work and we talked about the hurricane and how we needed to prepare. So we took the day off from school.

Thursday: Today I was very irritated because the weather was BEAUTIFUL!! We started early and did computer work. I am going to have to give whole days on computer work because we are falling way behind.

The rest of the day we did fire safety practice and watched videos.

Friday: Morning routine and then we worked on all about me books. Today was a day of tears and high tension levels. We wanted Cayce home and not at work with the weather turning bad and the evacuees coming in from the coast.

After we had a lot of attitudes with workbooks, they did reading time and then we watched more fire safety videos and did more practice. Ariana now has a new career choice when she gets older. My mini me wants to be a fire fighter.

Saturday: The weather was awful and we had power flickers. The girls were supposed to go to a Lowe's workshop to watch a pumpkin carving demonstration but it was raining so hard, the yard was flooded and the trees were swaying like crazy. We did our morning routine and then we watched three episodes of the first season of Bill Nye the Science Guy. The girls are now fans of Bill Nye. Then we read chapter books the rest of the day. I couldn't get a good internet connection to do anything after Bill Nye.

Review: Kiss the Dead by Laurell K. Hamilton

Book 21 of the Anita Blake series was called Kiss the Dead and there was some amazing plot twists and new good stuff. This is not one of my favorites of the series, but I did enjoy it.

It is action packed right in the beginning chapters of the book. Anita is trying to help rescue this 15 year old girl that has been kidnapped by a rogue group of vampires. These vampires have no blood oath to the master that created them and they want to stop the new council forming in America under Jean-Claude.

Anita takes a good look at all the vampires in the group an notices that all of them could be grandparents, soccer moms and teenagers. She has never seen anything like it and it turns out that one of the grandma's has been around for a while and she has the mind set that vampires should not have any master what so ever and that they should be free to do what they want.

These vampires are willing to die and not give up the person that created them, so Anita starts the execution process of one vampire in interrogation and it works.

Later on, Anita is heading to the Circus and she finds out a whole bunch of information about Asher and how he is still jealous and envious and angry and childish. He harms Anita by tearing her mouth all up while kissing and Jean-Claude has had enough. He announces that there is a city far away that is in need of a master and he sends Asher there to see if he likes the city. Of course, he does that and he is sending the hyenas as well, because that is Asher's animal to call.

Anita almost kills Nicky while they are having shower sex to try an feed the ardeur. Anita forgets to feed it twice in this novel and I think that is pretty careless of how she always remembers it, even at the most random times and then while in the act, she forgets.

I am so happy that Asher is now out of the picture. His temper tantrums were that of a 4 year old instead of a hundred plus year old vampire.

I am ready to read the last few books of this series. I am hoping that the next one I will like or have Edward in it. Or were lion Olaf!!

Steak and Egg Scramble

This was the breakfast that Cayce made for us to celebrate our anniversary back on September 14th, and it will be taking the place fore the September favorite recipe. It was absolutely delicious and we went back and bought more steak in the following days because we needed more of it in our lives. It was that damn good.

The steak and egg scramble went on top of biscuits.... YUMMM!!

Now let's get on to how we made this mouth watering treat.

First we had to get our George Forman grill down and spray it with cooking spray. Then we seasoned the steak which was top sirloin I think.

These are the seasonings we used and they made the steak delicious. How many times can I use the word delicious in this post??

Of course we put more seasoning on top of the steak after we cut it up and Cayce had a hard time keeping me away from the cutting board because I was plucking pieces up left and right..lol.

In goes the eggs and cheese. I forget how many eggs he used, I think he used 6 or 7.

The biscuits are done, and ready for the eggs and steak.

We had two little ones with us when we had this breakfast. Cayce made this on the Saturday before our anniversary because he had to work the day of our anniversary. Ariana had an egg with avocado on toast. This child loves her avocados. And Adalyn demanded a bowl of cereal.

I have to go grocery shopping this week and I will be picking up more steak.

It was a small haul week. I am definitely going to be going through my freebie stash that is building up and dump or use. I am needing more room. School Week 7 Photo Diary

Another week has come and gone. Seven weeks down and it is definitely hard to believe, but I am getting into a rhythm. At the beginning of the weeks after Cayce's days off, we start the days early and then nearing the end, I am so ready to just get the week over with and we start late, almost near noon.

Monday:  It was mostly a computer work day and more learning about the seven wonders of the world. We had a regular start day, and it was needed.

They switched up reading eggs and workbooks. They enjoyed doing those and then we spent the rest of the day with watching youtube videos on the Temple of Artemis.

Tuesday: Started the day with lesson pathways. I am so glad that website is still up. They made their own Olympic wreath crowns and then they did wordsearches.

She was excited to be the first one done with her Greek creature and events word searches. To finish the day, they learned about the Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Wednesday: On Monday, I had plans to talk about Johnny Appleseed, since it was his birthday, but that didn't happen. So, we learned about him today. We watched some videos on YouTube and they did a crossword.

Sammy got finished first, so she went straight to reading eggs. When Ariana got done, she went to her reading eggs and Sammy started her third page of her coloring book.

To end the day, we watched Hercules. They watched it at my parent's house and have been wanting to see it again.

Thursday: Today wasn't much of a photo day. We caught up on a few days of Easy Peasy and sis more history on lesson pathways.

They learned about the Mausoleum of Hallicarnassus. It was pretty much a boring and tense day. Tempers got really high today.

Friday: Today was a really late start to the day and I was considering cancelling the day and pushing it onto Saturday, but Cayce took over and they took a field trip to the Lake Murray Dam. It was a hot day with no shade and they got red really quick but they had plenty of water. But before they went, they did their morning routines and we read another fairy book.

I am going to try to start filling out this post after every school day. I am getting to overwhelmed with keeping up with these school posts and freebie hauls on the same night.
