Freebie Haul 12/18- 12/30

The freebies and samples for the past two weeks were very lacking. I am planning to take a freebie haul break in January. I am going to be revamping this blog and try to put more effort into my posts and have more variety and also I want to concentrate more on my YouTube channel. So this will be the last freebie post until February. Whatever I receive in January I will not be hauling. These two weeks were very magazine heavy.

School Week 19 Summarized

This is going to be a straight written post about school last week. We were so sick last week before Christmas that I didn't take any pictures but we still did school because I needed to get us to that 90 day mark. My home school association and state has to have 90 day forms every year, and my home school association gives reminders from the very beginning of the school year straight till the new year to turn in our 90 day forms for every student. We did get some stuff done, but it was mostly Netflix on Monday and Tuesday and then we were so sick on Wednesday, that we just couldn't do anything.

I had Thursday planned as an off day right at the beginning because that was my birthday, and we were still sick as dogs. This day was the girls worst sick day. Friday we were feeling a little better and got more done than just watching Science documentaries on Netflix.

Ariana worked on her workbook and got some reading time in for herself. Addy got some Easy Peasy lessons done in both Getting Ready sets. Samantha also got some reading time in for herself and completed some workbook pages. We ended this short and awful week with reading some library books and chapter 3 of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. After we finished this day, we all took a nap because we were worn slap out.

I hate that I didn't take any pictures what so ever this week, but I was just focused on getting our time in and also my girls not being awful in pictures when they were feeling so miserable.

Freebie Haul 12/11- 12/16

I was going to double up weeks on this post until I realized that last week as I am writing this, I didn't have much and I doubt I will get much this current week due to the holidays. Plus, this was a good sized freebie week and I have enough pictures in this post.

Friday 12/15: Every year, I always get a birthday present from Black and Mild, and this year, I got to choose what they would send. I forget what they offered but I picked out this robe and it is so warm and cozy.

Saturday 12/16: Back in late September, I found out that Bertolli had a rewards thing where if you send them your receipt for whatever product has an offer with it, they will send you a reward. Yadda Yadda Yadda, I had to buy two jars of pasta sauce and send them my receipt and I would get this spoon rest. It took months to get here, and it is so beautiful. It is ceramic, not plastic. I don't know if they are still doing this promo or if they have another offer right now but keep a lookout. I wish I would have gotten a second one to give as a Christmas present to my mama.

Review: The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor

About the Book: In 1986, Eddie and his friends are just kids on the verge of adolescence. They spend their days biking around their sleepy English village and looking for any taste of excitement they can get. The chalk men are their secret code: little chalk stick figures they leave for one another as messages only they can understand. But then a mysterious chalk man leads them right to a dismembered body, and nothing is ever the same.

My Thoughts: Ever since I first read the synopsis for this book, I knew it would peak my interest. It's a thriller, mystery somewhat horror novel. It starts off with someone finding a dismembered body in the woods. The body is of a girl and she is missing her head. This book also takes place in two different times. 1986 and 2016. So the story is being told 30 years apart. It is also set in England because the slang words and town names suggest so and I watch a lot of British YouTubers to pick up on the slang. It is also a complete mind fuck because one minute some one will be standing there and then in a split second, there face and leg is being ripped apart right in front of you... kind of like Final Destination. Also, I will never draw stick figures the same way again because I will think of this book.

About The Author: C. J. TUDOR lives in Nottingham, England, with her partner and three-year-old daughter. Over the years she has worked as a copywriter, television presenter, voice-over, and dog walker. She is now thrilled to be able to write full-time, and doesn’t miss chasing wet dogs through muddy fields all that much. The Chalk Man is her first novel.

School Week 18 Photos

This was supposed to go up sometime last weekend but I got sick and couldn't be bothered with anything. It took me a lot of effort just to get basic housework done and a week later, I am still trying to cough up a lung. I haven't been able to film any videos for my YouTube channel and Christmas is tomorrow and I am not ready. My anxiety is through the roof. As I am writing this my heart feels like it is about to beat out of my chest. I have so much I want to do with the girls tonight before bed, and it feels like I am going to run out of time or it's going to be late night and I am going to forget something. Let's just get on with the school week recap.

Monday 12/11: It was a late start to the day. They started with their morning work and then we finished disc 1 of Pearl Harbor. After the movie, I had Sammy do reading time while Ariana worked on Reading Eggs Mathseeds. Addy watched some more of SuperWhy.

We ended the day with reading chapter 3 of A Christmas Carol.

Tuesday: Another late start to the morning. We finally finished watching Pearl Harbor and 2 out of 4 of us were crying. Me as usual and then Ariana. I had Sammy do reading time again while Ariana did some workbook pages and Addy did some Easy Peasy lessons.

Sammy worked on reading eggs and ariana did some reading on her own after an hour. Addy did some more alphabet coloring pages and we ended the day with a YouTube video on Paul Revere's midnight ride.

Wednesday: Started at the same time as yesterday morning/ We watched 2 episodes of Frozen Planet and we discussed what we watched after and then they drew pictures after. Sammy worked on her reading and Ariana did more workbook pages while Addy did some more of her Easy Peasy lessons.

We finally finished reading A Christmas Carol today. We also read two library books to end our day. They were called Polar Bear's Underwear and The Polar Express.

Thursday: No Pictures taken today. We had an early morning start. Sammy started an hour before Ariana and Addy. She did two days worth of Easy Peasy and then she did her morning work along with Ariana and Addy. They watched two more episodes of Frozen Planet. They did their Easy Peasy and reading and Leapfrog as usual. They watched an hour long documentary on Paul Revere. We ended our day with starting Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban the illustrated edition.

Friday: We had a very late start to the day. The latest of start of the week. We started watching a new Netflix show called The Pyramid Code. Every time I see something on Ancient Egypt, I always let the girls know because they are fascinated by it and love watching new things about it.

After the Pyramid Code, Addy watched Leapfrog videos on Netflix while Ariana did more workbook pages and Samantha read to herself. They switched after an hour. Sammy did some workbook pages today and she did surprisingly well. We ended the day with reading Chapter 3 of Harry Potter. I did plan on reading Chapter 4 as well, but I started getting a sore throat that would eventually lead into a full blown cold into the next week and cause misery all the way till Christmas!!

Review: An Enchantment Of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

I have been sick the past week and it took me way longer than I wanted to read this book. I have been wanting to read this book for the past few months ever since I got it in the mail. It was a great fantasy book. It does have some mixed reviews with people hating and loving it. I am in the liked it column. I loved the story but I absolutely hate the characters.

This story takes place in a land called Whimsy and we follow a girl named Isobel who is an artist. That is her craft. The land of Whimsy is divided by humans an fair folk. The fair folk are the dominant members of this world and they have glamour to project themselves as perfect humans when in reality they aren't.

Isobel has to paint a portrait of the autumn prince and she adds a feature that is not very well liked among the fair folk and he basically kidnaps her to take her to trial for her punishment. Along the way, they get caught by magical beasts and they find out some things and they eventually head to the spring court and that's where everything changes.

They end up falling in love which is breaking the Good Law and the king gets involved. There were some things that I didn't really enjoy about this book. I could not imagine the characters at all. They were so confusing and bland. I hated how Isobel was a flip flopper on her decisions. At the end of each chapter it seemed, she would be telling herself that she couldn't get involved with Rook and then the next chapter, she would be wondering why he was being distant and angry with her and how she just wanted to be around him.

I believe people who hate this book and have so many problems with it are just not truly imagining the story but looking for certain aspects to hate. I ended up rating this book a 4 out of 5 stars because the story was good.

School Week 17 Photos

I know this one is later than what I said in my previous post, but I am currently fighting a cold and it is kicking my butt. Every day I have new aches and pains. I am slowly getting things done around my house and I am going to be spending the rest of tonight working on blog posts for the rest of the year. Tomorrow is also my 27th birthday and I am going to be treating it like a new year and come up with resolutions. I have some goals that I want to complete before my 28th birthday.  That will be mentioned in tomorrow's post all about my birthday. Now let's get onto this school week. Not many pictures because I was just lazy and didn't want to take so many.

Monday 12/4: I had to start leaving dates because I was getting confused since I was so far behind. We had a good start time to the day. They started with their morning work and then I had Addy work on Easy Peasy lessons while Ariana and Samantha worked on spelling words.

After Addy got done with her Easy Peasy lessons for the day, she played with her Leapfrog tablet while her sisters did a free write.

Addy finished her day with playing a game with Cayce who took the day off work for a personal day. It was much needed for him and us to see him for longer than 3 hours a day. Airy and Sammy finished their days with Easy Peasy lessons.

Tuesday: No pictures taken today. We had a late start to the day. We continued watching Bill Nye Saves The World because I found out that season 2 will be coming out at the end of the month. We started reading A Christmas Carol and those are some long ass chapters.. not going to lie. We watched the last 3 episodes of Liberty's Kids. Addy finished her day with Easy Peasy first while her sisters read to themselves. Sammy and Airy then finished their days with Easy Peasy.

Wednesday: We had a normal start time to the day which I deem 10AM. They did their morning work and then we watched two more episodes of Bill Nye Saves the World. I watched an episode by myself before we started school. It was the sex episode. After we watched those episodes, Addy did her Easy Peasy lessons. Sammy did some solar system coloring pages for me and Ariana read.

Addy finished her day with Super Why. Ariana finished her day with math worksheets and Sammy ended her day with math worksheets as well.

Thursday: Started the day with watching another space documentary on Netflix. It was called The Farthest Voyager in Space. We read chapter 2 of A Christmas Carol after watching the documentary. Since it was Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we watched a YouTube video of original new footage from that day. Addy worked on Easy Peasy lessons while Sammy and Airy read. We ended that day with watching an hour of the movie Pearl Harbor.

Friday: We had another late start to the day. After their morning work, we watched the first two episodes of Frozen Planet. After that we discussed what we watched and they drew pictures. Sammy and Airy did a writing prompt after their drawings. They had to write what they watched. Addy did some more Easy Peasy and a craft.

Sammy finished her day with Easy Peasy after she read for an hour. After Ariana finished her writing, she worked on some Easy Peasy Lessons and then she was done for the day. After Addy finished her craft, she watched Leapfrog: The Amazing Alphabet.
