This is going to be more of a thought dump while I am reading. Of how I am feeling, what I am thinking and what I want to happen and what I am anticipating of what will happen.
Persephone has started her job in the underworld and the tension between her and Hades is so thick, that you can cut it with a knife. Also, very annoyed with how naive and childish she is acting around Hades. When she had the traumatic flashback and curled in on Hades to hide, I wanted her to freaking tell him so he could go kick some major ass.
Finally someone knows what happened to her and when this person found out, I upset all over again. This person was visibly upset and telling her that she needed to tell someone or at least go to a therapist to help with her mental health.
I laughed so hard when Artemis vowed to go key Hades and Zeus' and Poseidon's cars and then realizing that Poseidon doesn't have one and her being all bummed about it.
I am not a fan of Minthe and how catty all of the goddesses are to each other. Another thing I am starting to notice more and more is that every goddess is slutty and wearing short skimpy clothes. Even Persephone who is shielded and child-like, he wear a skimpy ass dress with her ass hanging out and her boobs on full display it seems.
This is the longest slow burn I have ever read. I am still interested in the series and will be picking up volume 4 when it comes out, but it will have to have something major happen or I will be putting this to the side.
Another Agatha Christie book read for my Agatha Christie challenge that is being hosted by the 52 book club. This is a collection of short stories about Hercule Poirot solving cases. I have realized that even though I love reading Agatha Christie, I just can't stand the long drawn out explanations of who-dun-it in the full length novels, and I found that the short stories were just too rushed and ended way to quickly.
There are eleven stories in this book and I liked a few of them. Some were basically the same as her other stories and some are just reminisces of past cases that Poirot solved. The last one broke my heart and gave the fact that Poirot wasn't always perfect and caught the right person, so that is why he adament every case that he gets the facts right and the right man.
Hastings annoyed me again like always. I don't mind him, but every single story he is always doubting Poirot and being a complete idiot and gasping about something that was plainly obvious. He is also a womanizer and his type for beautiful faces with auburn hair is annoying.
Overall, I gave this a 3 star. Am I a fan of Agatha Christie short stories? The answer is so so. I am looking forward to watching the adaptations of the episodes because I would like to see them play out and maybe have a little more substance.
Going into this volume, I was not expecting much because I haven't been blown away by the story so far and I was losing interest. I was so over all of the bullying and self doubt from Midoriya and the constant whining and then talking himself up at the very last minute.
I have to say that this is my favorite volume so far. I gave it a 5 star rating because it is all about the Calvary Battle and nothing else. The beginning is like a game of flag football but with headbands and points, and then a battle royale between the students at the end.
Two new people who were introduced had the most interesting quirks and I was shooketh. One was copy and I immediately became concerned that this person would ge the all might power if he touched Deku. The other was instant brainwashing. If the guy asked you a question and you answered, you would immediately become brainwashed unless it wasn't on purpose.
I am more interested now because on January 1st, I finally started watching the show with my kids and hubby. My hubby is the one who suggested that we watch it and it was good and funny. We only watched two episodes, but I am hoping that we get to sit down again and watch some more this week.
I can't wait for my hold on Volume 5 to come in because the cliffhanger on this one left me speechless and a little angry.

Review: I walk with Humans was not a favorite. It is about monsters who can change appearance and also humans who are just plain evil. Jacey is on the search for the man who took her brother. He is known as an important man because he is a politician. Go Figure! Her dad sold him and he has not been seen since. Jacey's father ends up dying and Jacey makes a friend with a dog who turns out to be a human who can change form.

Happy Happy New Year everyone. Hope that everyone has had a good first few days of January so far. I have had some busy and productive but very tiring days. I am exhausted as I am typing this, but it is a happy exhausted.
Today's topic is to share our top ten favorite books of last year and I can't wait to share mine. I absolutely LOVE these books and want everyone to read them!
Growing up, I used to watch this movie adaptation every time I went to my grandma's house. It was our movie. We loved saying that the secret was in the sauce and saying TOWANDA!!!! I got this book back in 2021, which is weird to say now, but anyways I read it in December of 2022 and I was expecting it to be so different from the movie. I am glad to say that this was 5 stars. The movie changed some things, but it is a true adaptation.
The movie of course had to change the story telling time line. In the book we meet Smokey Lonesome in the very beginning and Ruth dies before we even read about the murder trial of Frank Bennett. The telling of events in the book actually make sense and I love that we got POV's from other characters not just Idgie and Ruth but Grady, Sipsey, Big George and Buddy and Eva.
This book is told in dual timelines where we read about the Threadgoode's in the 20's-30's. The second timeline is in the 80's when Evelyn Couch and her husband Ed go to the old folks home to visit his mother and that is where Ninny Threadgoode is stayng with Mrs Otis.
Watching the movie as a child and even as an adult before reading this, I always assumed that Ninny was Idgie, but this book clearly makes Ninny a sister in law to Idgie and I love the LGBT themes in this. Idgie and Ruth clearly loved one another and the small town of Whistle Stop knew and didn't even blink an eye or show any hate or discrimination towards these two women. Now Whistle Stop is a little podunk railroad town in Alabama.
I am so happy that I read this. I did have a few problems with the constant use of the N word used, and I wonder if the sequel that was just released will have omitted the use of the word altogether.
HAPPY 2023!!!! I hope that everyone had a great Christmas and are having a good first day of the New Year. 2022 was very eventful and overall a good year. I will miss it, but here is to having more good times and memories to come in 2023. First a quick shoutout to Angela from Angel's Guilty Pleasures for the book off my wishlist for my birthday/ Christmas.
It is one of my 5 star reads for the month of December and I was not expecting it to be such a good book.
My husband had the last week off of December as a vacation and it was much needed. We got some needed appointments done.
Pizza had her second vet visit and she is a whopping 7 pounds, probably bigger now because we had to change her puppy food to a higher protein and I could tell a major difference two days later. She is starting to fill out her skin and she is growing like a weed. Tomorrow will be a month since we got her and it is very bittersweet.
Christmas Eve was not that good. The temp on Friday night got down into the teens like 16 degrees Farenheit which NEVER happens where I live and our pipes froze. We had no water until 2pm that afternoon. We had every precaution done. Heat light on on my well and water flowing from every sink. Christmas was great. The pipes didn't freeze, which I don't understand because the temps got even lower, to 11 degrees Farenheit. The weather is stupid.
The girls got what they needed and wanted. We had a great meal. Si was spoiled. Her favorite toy is a Doctor Strange plush from Barkbox. That was actually her first ever toy and she carries it everywhere. So we decided to buy the movie because we didn't have a physical copy and we watched it on Christmas, and I swear that when Doctor Strange first got the cape till the end of the movie, Si was glued to the TV. She recognized her toy.
The cats didn't really get anything besides new collars to replace last years and new seresto flea collars. I swear by those things. The cats also had cat toy and cat treat advent calendars that they got throughout the month, so they were spoiled enough.
