School Week 12 Photos

It's hard to believe that we are already 12 weeks into our school year and the 1st half is almost over. We had a very busy and productive week. I gave them Friday off, so it was a 4 day week. To make up for Friday, we are going to having a field trip day on November 18, and I am going to be making that the last day that we focus on the Revolutionary War, so we can move on and get a couple more units out of the way before the new year.

Monday: We had a very early start to the day. I started Sammy at 7:55 and Airy and Addy start at 8:55. We like ending our days around noon so we can have the whole afternoon just to process and relax and have a good night sleep. Sammy worked on Easy Peasy and some of her workbook pages. I had Addy color some October pages while Ariana also worked on some workbook pages.

Then, I had Sammy copy some words from her Goosebumps book that her and I are reading together. Ariana also copied those words. While they were doing that, I had Addy watch some YouTube videos on community workers. We ended our day with the Magic Schoo Bus once again.

Tuesday: We didn't start as early as yesterday, but early enough. Today is Halloween. We read more of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Watched 3 episodes of Liberty's Kids. We read Halloween books and down below the girls are holding their favorites.

Then we read two revolutionary war books that we had from the library and we finished the day with watch half of The Patriot with Mel Gibson. It is one of my favorite movies.

Wednesday: We had another semi early morning. We had a great Halloween night. They didn't get much candy as they normally do. The house we always hit were out of candy, so we left too late. I had Sammy and Airy start the day with a free write while I had Addy do Easy Peasy.

After that, we finished the rest of The Patriot. They liked it and I didn't expect them too, but they do like the gory stuff, so it was all good. We read more of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Sammy and Airy ended their days with workbook pages and Addy finished her day with Easy peasy.

Thursday: We had a start time of 10am this morning. We had a dance session of the Hokey Pokey to wake us up because we were dragging through breakfast. After we watched the rest of the Magic School Bus. I put Ariana on more workbook pages, while Addy did Easy Peasy and Sammy did reading time.

They all finished their day doing different work. Addy watched more Super Why. Ariana worked on Easy Peasy and Sammy did some workbook pages.

Friday: No School. Day Off

Review: Winter by Marissa Meyer

I am done with the Lunar Chronicles. This book was a clunker and it was amazing. I loved all the action scenes and the love scenes. I am glad that she incorporated more Snow White traits into this novel. Cinder and Kai finally grew on me at the very end. This made me laugh loudly and also want to threw the book across the room. Iko is still my favorite android. She definitely beats BB-8, R2-D2, and C-3PO in my book and I love Star Wars.

This book made me love Scarlet and Wolf even more and they are one of my top OTP's. I am not big on marking certain pages for reference but a quote from Scarlet about Wolf changed that and it is one of my favorite quotes from this entire series. It's on page 363 and it's

"To offer him a life of blue skies and tomatoes and peace."

I read this sentence and it pulled at my heartstrings and it was thought during a tragic event that happens in the book.

The ending was kind of a shocker and it was a good one too. I will be finishing the last short story in Stars Above tonight and I will be reviewing each story as well.

School Week 11 Photos

This post is a week late and I just kept putting it off and doing other things. It has been bothering me and I have been meaning to do it the past two days and it will be done tonight and be up tomorrow. There is not going to be much commentary of each of the days. It's going to be short and sweet, so I can get this week's school post written, edited and posted on Monday the 6th.

Monday: Today was my dad's birthday, so I had the girls make birthday cards. After they were done, we had some reading time together. We all sat down with our own books and we were listening to the pouring rain. We read for a good while, and then Sammy and Ariana wanted to do a free write and Addy wanted to color. So I pulled up one of her lessons that we had to skip when I was out of ink, and write when she got done with her craft, we had a power outage effectively ending our school day.

Tuesday: We started our with once again watching the Magic School Bus. After that went off, I had Samantha and Ariana work on revolutionary war vocab. Addy worked on her Easy Peasy lessons that had to be skipped. She also did some fall coloring pages.

After Sammy and Airy were done with copying words, I had them work on a writing prompt. The prompt was Imagine yourself participating in the Boston Tea Party. They did more writing pages and Addy worked with her three letter flashcards as well.

Wednesday: We had an early start to the morning. Sammy wanted to get up super early and get her school work done. She worked on Easy Peasy and then she did some workbook pages while Ariana did her Easy Peasy. I had Addy watch some Super Why.

We watched more Liberty's Kids and we ended the day with reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Thursday: We had a late morning, so I decided it was time to work on some more Halloween decor. They had a blast and some of it was gorgeous. We watched more Magic School Bus and read more of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. To end the day, I had Sammy and Airy work on another writing prompt of Prince Pondicherry from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Addy finished her day with Easy Peasy.

Friday: We had another late start. After they did their morning routines, Sammy looked up her Revolutionary war words. Ariana had reading time and Addy worked on her Easy Peasy. After they were done, Sammy worked on her reading, Airy worked on some workbook pages while Addy worked on her helicopter craft.

We ended the day with watching episodes 8 and 9 of Liberty's Kids and YouTube videos on the Boston Tea Party.

November TBR

As I am posting this I am already done with the first two books. They were amazing and my reviews will be up next week. For the rest of the month I will be reading the last two books of this post and I will be reading another for my next Blogging For Books Review copy. It's going to be Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo.

October Wrap Up

Once again, the month of October flew by way to fast. My reading goal is almost complete for the year. I have read 98 books this year so far and plan to read many more. I have one more series that I want to start and finish and there are also new books in some series that I started this year that I want to read before 2018. I am trying to figure out the start of my favorite books of the year list and I can only think of a couple of the top of my head. But anyways, let's get into the books I read in October.

I have no clue what I am going to put on my November TBR. I am in the middle of 4 books. I am loving Winter and I am beyond ready to finish reading Stars Above and for school work, we are reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Samantha is reading Heidi for her Easy Peasy lessons. I might just finish the boks I am in the middle of and then what was on last month's TBR will just roll over to Novembers'.

Review: The Book Of Esther by Emily Barton

About the Book: What if an empire of Jewish warriors that really existed in the Middle Ages had never fallen—and was the only thing standing between Hitler and his conquest of Russia?

It also happens to lie between a belligerent nation to the west that the Khazars call Germania—and a city the rest of the world calls Stalingrad.

My Thoughts: I was really excited to read this book because this is one of my favorite time periods to read. It was very good except that in some parts, I felt that it was a bit boring and slow. This book has a lot of steampunk qualities. It is a mix of different genres ranging from military fiction, historical fiction, and religion. 

The cover kind of threw me off somewhat. I like the yellow gold cover a lot more. With how detailed this book was, the cover could have been less busy.
