Time for another book review. This is book 4 in the Anita Blake series. They are starting to get longer and better.
The title is once again named after a place in the book. This place, however is not owned by vampires. It is owned by werewolves. The plot of this novel is about missing lycanthropes. Lycanthropes are shapeshifters. It mentions werewolves, wererats, wereleopards, a swan man. It has alot more of Richard...yum! He is a werwolf. He is a alpha, second in line and he fought the current leader of the pack Marcus, and won but didn't kill him, so no leadership for Richard.
Marcus is an asshole and his alpha female Raina is a twisted one. She makes snuff films that has beastality in it. Which means during sex, that whoever is a shape-shifter turns into their animal form which is dangerous because their disease which makes them a lycanthrope is contagious.
Also, we get a jealous lover who tries to kill Anita. Her name is Gretchen and she is in love with Jean-Claude. Jean-Claude doesn't give a damn about her and has ordered Gretchen to leave Anita alone, well, she doesn't obey and gets tossed back into her coffin. But, Jean-Claude now wants the chance to woo Anita or kill Richard for proposing to Anita. Yes, that's right. An engagement. Basically Richard and Anita want to have sex and they have some major foreplay but Anita has been "screwed over" literally when her first love proposed, sexed her up, and then left her. So, she doesn't want pre-marital sex. Then throughout the rest of the book, she changes her mind because she is scared of being with a wolf.
At the end, they get betrayed by the swan man and it's Christmas time. Edward eventually finds and kills the swan man and skins him and gives it to Anita for Christmas where she hangs it up in her living room that upsets Richard.
I loved this book. I want more of Richard, but I know that they will not last.
The next book I will be reading and reviewing will NOT be in the Anita Blake series. I have decided that I am going to read four books in the series and then read a totally different book and then go back to the series, so I don't get a reading hangover. The next book is going to be The Silver Linings Playbook.

School Week 29 Recap
Another school week is done. I can't believe it's March! May will be here before I know it, and I will probably have work that I wanted to get done before the last day piled up somewhere. This week has been workbook work, pretty much everyday.
Monday: Early start to the day. Over the weekend, we got our new washing machine and our laundry has been piling up. I got Cayce's work clothes and Addy's clothes done. So while I was busy putting Cayce work clothes up and starting mine, I had them put Addy's clothes away. After they did their morning work and clothes for me, we read library books. Then we read together for quiet time, which isn't really quiet time anymore because Samantha reads out loud to Ariana and I.
After quiet time, I printed them off some color by number sheets. They have been asking for those kinds and I figured why the hell not. I gave Ariana 3 regular color by number and Samantha had color by sum where she had to solve the problem and then color the parts according to the key. She LOVED it. That basically took up the rest of the day.
Tuesday: We had a later start to the day than on Monday. They had more of Addy's clothes to put away today, so that went into their morning work. I always add chores to the beginning of each day in their record books. Life skills people!!! Today was filled with math and science worksheets.
Sammy did her first minute math worksheet today. I used to do these in 4th grade for multiplication. This sheet had 48 problems and in 1 minute, she completed 11. Her first time, and she did 11 problems and got them all right. This was done without finger counting or any manipulative.
Ariana also started her addition lessons. She did amazingly well. We ended the day with workbooks. Samantha did higher number addition and subtraction problems and she learned how to use a calculator. She is moving on up in the world...lol.
Wednesday: We had an early morning. it was full of clothes and what seemed liked the longest hour of quiet time. It took forever, and I was annoyed with Cayce during the entire time because he was playing a video game in front of the kids and they weren't reading... ugh, that was a douche moment. Anyways, Sammy worked on sight words again and Ariana did more workbook pages.
Ariana did more adding pages. She loves it and then she did more shape pages. I am going to start her on her domino math sometime this month, just like Samantha did last year. Samantha did copywork pages today and they both ended the day with computer work. Samantha finished reading her Jolly Robin story on her computer lessons and was so excited.
She also learned how to add with a number line. She was so excited and happy that she got to do what I learned to do in school. It was a good school day for us.
Thursday: I decided to give the girls the day off from school at the last minute. Cayce has to go to work late tonight for inventory and he won't be home until tomorrow morning, and I just wanted to spend the day with him, since I won't be next to him tonight while I am sleeping. So today we took a personal day.
Friday: We had a little late start to the day. We did chores around the house and it took a good hour. After that, we relaxed and did quiet time.
After quiet time, we decided to watch Ratatouille. They love watching that movie since they always want to help me cook. Sammy also helped Cayce and I transfer our bathroom shelves to their bathroom, because we have a new space saver going up. To end the day after the movie, we baked some peanut butter cookies.
Those cookies were delicious.
It isn't how I planned to end the day, but tomorrow when they make yesterday up, we will be doing more computer work after their home depot workshop.

Circus of the Damned
Review time.... this time for book 3 in the Anita Blake series. Once again it is named after a place located in the book.
This book introduced one of my favorite characters, named Richard. He is the confident, but shy and cute and caring guy that I love, but he comes later in the story. This plot is based around new masters vampires that have come to take over St Louis and kill Jean-Claude. They do a series of killings that Anita gets called to by the police. She also has a new guy to train at her main job Animators Inc named Larry. The cover features one of the main villians, the Lamia, who is believed to be extinct but is actually immortal and she has it out for Anita and she partners up with Alejandro, another jack-ass master vampire who forcefully gives her four marks, marking her as his human servant.
The main villian is Mr Oliver. He is responsible for the lamia. Anita also figures out that he is a million year old master vampire who tricks Anita into giving him Jean- Claudes daytime resting place. The Circus of the Damned is the main location where the battle takes place and Anita kills Alejandro and Mr. Oliver.
Richard flirts with Anita and asks her on dates, but he is also keeping a few secrets from her. Jean-Claude has him as a ally type and he wants Richard to stay away from Anita. Richard is also pack leader.... he is a werewolf. He is a lycanthrope, and they are frowned upon and he has to keep up his appearance as a human really well, because he is a junior high science teacher.
At the end of the book, it hints that Anita and Richard are just starting a relationship and her marks from Jean-Claude are finally gone thanks to Alejandro, but Alejandro is dead and so she is free from the marks.

February Favorite Recipe
It's time for another monthly favorite recipe. The recipe for February is a meal that Cayce created and we absolutely LOVE IT!!! I am a sucker for chicken and will eat it every chance I get. But, if I don't have chicken, I will automatically take pork chops. The pork chops that I buy every month comes from Target. They are cut perfect and not much fat and they are the perfect size and thickness... so that is what this meal is all about... PORK CHOPS. I was not home while he was cooking this meal. He took the pictures and gave me a general idea of how he prepared it.
The pack of pork chops we buy come with 10 in a pack. So Cayce cuts all 10 pieces bite sized. He seasons it with salt and pepper. This time, he used coconut oil while cooking the pork chops, and it tasted amazing. He also used a little bit of basil this time.
Just an FYI, he is always changing this recipe and it seems better every time. Once the pork chops are browned, pour some chicken stock and a can of cream of mushroom into the pan.
Usually he chops up the onion, and adds it in with the pork chops while they are browning, but this time he added the onion along with the mushroom soup and chicken stock. I think he used a whole onion and diced and sliced it.
While this was simmering, he got the rice started. Since I was out of the house, he had to use the box of instant rice. I always cook the real rice here, so he isn't that skilled...lol. While he was getting the water started, he put in a bay leaf.
Once the rice was done, he plated up. It looked so delicious and when I got home, the aroma was mouth watering. I walked into the kitchen and sat straight down at the table without taking my jacket or shoes off.
I can not wait until he makes this again. I am getting hungry just looking at this picture. Make it, ya'll wont be disappointed.
