Possibly my number one worst book of the year. I was so bored. I do not understand the hype and why people love this so much. I do not recommend this to anyone because it is a huge waste of time and I am honestly angry about all of the trees that had to die for this to become a book. I remember my mom reading this one summer when I was a kid and I asked what it was about and she honestly couldn't tell me because it is plotless.
It is about this teen boy named Holden Caulfield and he just got kicked out of another school. It is the Christmas holidays and he is going through his life story and saying that things are happening but he doesn't want to talk about it and then the rest of the book is him just being the biggest pain in the ass with everyone around him. He calls everyone old and phony. There is implications of rape that his room mate does and he asks about a girl that he knows that went on a date with his room mate and his room mate gets fed up with the constant badgering of did they have sex and he gets decked in the face.
He talks shit about everyone and he is so judgemental. He decides to go to New York before Wednesday which is when he is supposed to go back home and he asks everyone to have a drink with him even his taxi drivers.
There was a point where I seriously thought this was a British boy and it was set in England and then he mentioned New York again and this feels like it was written to be about a British boy. They way he talks about his younger sister sounded very much like a pedophile and I was very disgusted especially whem most of the book he talks about everyone's sex life, the prostitute and horny guys around his hotel and then his old teacher's home he goes to at the very end where he wakes up and the guy is standing over him in his boxers and petting his head.
I hated every second of this and the constant repetitiveness of everything was aggrevating. I don't get this book.
