The edition I read that had every Oscar Wilde play that I listened to the past week. The last play is of course The Importance of Being Ernest. This is the play that my 14 year old daughter had to read in her Lit and Comp class and she loved it.
It is about mistaken identity and it will confuse the hell out of you. The humor between the two 'brothers" and the love interests Cecily and Gwendolyn is laugh out loud funny. Even the attitudes of the servants Lane and Merriman was hilarious. How they felt about their lords and the indecisions that made them annoyed were even funnier.
The two "brothers" Jack and Algernon are in disagreement with each other and not wanting anything to do with the other. One wants to stay far away from the other.
This story is so confusing and allover the place that it is very hard to talk about what happened. All that is coming to mind is that Ernest is the best and most attractive name in the world. Cucumber sandwiches and muffins are a favorite among the brothers and Aunt Augusta. Also at the end, Aunt Augusta gets scandalized by all the kissing going on.
