School Week 3 Photos

I am staring to get anxious about the days and if they are doing enough and are they learning what they need to. It's only the 3rd week of school and I am freaking the hell out. I find myself rushing and trying to get them working on stuff and not have them sitting for even a minute no doing anything while I am helping the other. I want to get back in to the groove of the first week where it was great and not rushed but flew by. We are already 15 days into our year and if this keeps up for the next 165 days, I might just lose my mind. So, to get me on the relaxed mindset, I gave them Friday off because I just needed to focus on my mental health. They spent the day playing Legos and writing and coloring and talking about what we are learning in history. They pretended to be in the French and Indian War. So, if they can come up with that on their own instead of me mentioning it, then I know they are learning something.

Monday: We had another early start to the day. Samantha did great with her Easy Peasy work. She made her own poems and did surprisingly well.

An hour later, I got Ariana started and she did great. After she did a full days worth of Easy Peasy, she worked on some more review worksheets, while Sammy was doing pages in her workbook.

Addy was the last to get started and she is still loving doing work with her sisters. She is refusing to recite the pledge of allegiance but she repeats everything else but that. I don't know why she is refusing, but I am not going to force her because then she will shut down and that would ruin the rest of her day. She started her day off with watching the Leapfrog movies again on Netflix. She loves those videos and they are helping. She is singing along to the songs and mimicking the actions and repeating words and number and phonic sounds.
We finished off the day with reading the rest of AstroTwins. That was such a cute little book. I am going to be getting the sequel and read that one as well.

Tuesday: We had a normal start time today. I got up early, but I just needed a couple hours to myself to get some work done, so we went back to our 10AM 10:30AM start time. It was great just to have that little bit of time to myself and eat breakfast, drink a cup of coffee while it was still hot, and focus on work and get a YouTube video or two watched in that time frame. Sammy was happy not to be woken up so early.
Addy working on her handwriting. She shutdown twice again today.

She was super happy to make this rainbow influence.

Ending the day with some science review and watching more Bill Nye

Wednesday: Today was another early day because Addy had a speech appointment. We decided to pull her because she has been going there since 2015 and has been through 6 different therapists because they either leave, quit, or get transferred. She has learned to talk ok. Not great like Samantha did when she went for a year and a half. Also, Addy was also being helped with everything else, like cutting, writing, drawing and personal tasks. The three weeks she has been doing school, she is learning her ABC's and she is writing when she was doing scribbles. So, the speech therapy and OT was a complete waste of our time. The stuff they would send home was things that she should be working on after she got better with pronouncing words.

her daily progress sheet.

Thursday: We had another normal late start and they started the day with watching more Bill Nye while I was cooking breakfast. Sammy and Ariana worked on a new list of spelling words and Addy is continuing her study on the letter C.

Addy finished her day with once again watching the Leapfrog movies on Netflix.

Friday: No School. Mental Health Day for me.

Saturday: The girls had a Home Depot workshop today, so they went to that as part of their schooling for their makeup day from yesterday. They built their own pencil cases. When they got back home, Sammy worked on her vocab. Ariana did some pages in her workbook, and Addy practiced her handwriting and wrote with Cayce and did some of her cutting practice workbook.

Having my mental health day on Friday made me so much calmer and also having them go to a workshop and that little bit of quiet time for me to just figure out what they were going to do when they got home was a tremendous help. Their next day off will be next Monday, September 11th. Cayce doesn't have to work on the 4th but they will be doing school and he is going to be talking to them about jobs and working.
